The Dodge County News was established in October of 1989 by local owners Chuck and Cindy Eckles. After working in the newspaper business for seven years, Chuck decided to open his own newspaper to print the news of Eastman and Dodge County.
The Dodge County News business office is located at 226 Main Street in the heart of downtown Eastman. Noted as "Dodge County's News Leader", the newspaper is staffed by Publisher and Editor Chuck Eckles and Accounting and Advertising Manager Cindy Eckles.
The courteous staff can easily be reached by calling (478) 374-NEWS (6397). Faxes can be sent to (478) 374-0361. Circulation can be reached at (478) 374-0360 and the newspaper can also be reached on the Internet by sending e-mail to:
dcn@dodgecountynews.com . The well trained staff is more than eager to help individuals and businesses with their advertising needs, whether it be a yard sale classified or a full page display ad with color.
The Dodge County News is a member in good standing with the Georgia Press Association and the Eastman/Dodge County Chamber of Commerce. The newspaper follows the 50 inch web unit of measure. The newspaper's dimensions are six columns wide by 21 1/2 inches tall.
The Dodge County News is published weekly and hits the streets on Wednesday mornings. The newspaper can be purchased at numerous vending box locations as well as many businesses in Eastman and throughout Dodge County. The aggressive style of The Dodge County News has produced many "firsts" for a weekly newspaper in Dodge County. Included are the facts that the newspaper was the first weekly in the county to publish a full color picture, the first to publish an issue in excess of 100 pages (August 31, 1994), the first to accept major credit cards for services, the first to publish a wedding section and business and industry section, the first to be available via the Internet at www.dodgecountynews.com and the first to publish the entire newspaper online.

On January 1, 2007, The Dodge County News purchased their rival newspaper of 18 years, The Times Journal, from Rosebud Publishing, Inc. The two newspapers were combined under the name of The Dodge County News.
