Qualifying ends for Primary

More candidates qualified for local county offices before the Friday, May 2 deadline. Two of the candidates that qualified, later pulled out of the races.
For Dodge County Commissioner countywide, incumbent Dan McCranie qualified as a Democrat. Earl Wilson “Red” Rogers also qualified as a Democrat for the post, but later pulled out of the race.
In County Commissioner District 1, Bobby Peacock qualified as a Republican. Jeffery Turner also qualified for the post. He qualified as a Democrat. Kenton A. Haley also qualified for the post as a Democrat, but later pulled out of the race.
Those who had previously qualified for County
Commissioner in District 1 as Democrats are incumbent William (Jr.) Howell and Charles Nelson.
For County Commissioner in District 3, Nancy Burch Brown qualified as a Republican.
Those who had previously qualified for County Commissioner in District 3 as Democrats are James Atkins, Rodney King, Edwin Burnham and Bennett Widener.
For Sheriff, Jeff Hinson qualified as a Republican.
Already qualifying for Sheriff as a Republican is Kip Cravey.
Already qualifying for Sheriff as Democrats are incumbent Lawton Douglas, Donald Helms and Chuck Pittman.
