George Will says he’s switching his voter registration from Republican to “unaffiliated.” He says Donald Trump caused him to do this. Who cares what George Will thinks. Will has been out to lunch for years. He was claiming in 1974 that Ronald Reagan was too old at age 63 to consider a run for president. Fortunately, Ronnie ignored George’s advice. I’m surprised that anyone still considers Will a conservative. He writes for the hideous Washington P---. That should tell you something.
Forget George Will and check out Ilana Mercer instead. I’ve never seen her in a newspaper, but I’ve been reading her columns for years at IlanaMercer.com. She runs circles around George Will and Kathleen Overrated Parker, a pretend conservative who constantly trashes conservatives. The Gwinnett Daily Post has her column, also Eugene Robinson, leftwing loser. I quit subscribing to that paper years ago as it turned left.
You can use the CPI inflation calculator to determine buying power from one year to another. Just plug in the numbers and years for the answer. For example, $1,000 in 1980 has the same buying power as $2,915.49 in 2016. Don’t forget the forty nine cents.
$1,000 in 1972 has the same buying power as $5,747.27 in 2016. Think we haven’t had rampant inflation?
From Rico on TheoSpark.net (great site, fine commentator!): “Voters in the UK have chosen sovereignty over slavery, freedom over serfdom. Will voters in the US make the same choice?” Great question, Rico.
The Republican in-crowd wants to block Trump at the Republican Convention. They’re still looking for a polite loser to support. The name Mitt Romney comes to mind. He can lose effortlessly. I say George Bush I seriously weakened the Republican brand with his 1990 cave-in on tax increases. Dan Quayle warned George I not to do it, that it would end his political career. Dan was right. Remember the media trashing Dan Quayle at every turn? It made me like Dan that much more. Yes, I voted for Goldwater in ’64. He was one of the most lied-about men in history.
