The Indians traveled to Baxley for a region game with Appling County on April 8. JT Shields would get his last start of the season and would go 5 2/3 innings allowing six runs on 10 hits while waling two and striking out four. Tyler Pruett would come in and face one batter and record a strike out. Tyler Pruett and Chip Burch would have the only two hits of the game for the Indians with Pruett and Aaron Kitchens have RBI’s. The Indians lost to a tough Appling County team, 6-2.
Dodge County traveled to Soperton to take on Treutlen County in a non-region matchup on April 6. Clint Thompson got the start on the mound going 4 1/3 innings allowing three runs on five hits walking four and striking out two. Tyler Pruett came on in relief going 1 2/3 innings allowing one run on one hit and striking out one. Hitting for Indians were Chandler Davis one for two with a double, Clint Thompson one for three, Chip Burch one for three, Cameron Coleman one for three, and Tyler Pruett one for four. Dodge lost a close one, 4-1.
The Indians hosted the Pierce County Bears on April 5. Craig Barton got the start for the Indians throwing three innings allowing eight runs on seven hits and four walks. Tyler Pruett came on in fourth inning of relief not allowing any runs while giving up one hit, one walk and striking out five. The Indians were only able to get four hits in the game and three of those came from Clint Thompson who had two singles and a double. Chandler Davis hit his second homerun of the season and Tyler Pruett added a run batted in (RBI). Indian lost, 8-2.
For a season recap the Indians went 6-10 in region play and 9-14 overall.
Top three Indian batting averages were: Tyler Pruett with .389, Clint Thompson with .375 and Chandler Davis with .350.
Top three Indian RBI players were: Chip Burch with 18, Clint Thompson, JT Shields and Craig Barton all with 13.
Top three Indian home run hitters were: Chip Burch with three, JT Shields and Chandler Davis both with two.
Top three Indian pitchers earned run average (ERA) were: Cade with 1.68, JT Shields with 1.99 and Tyler Pruett with 2.96.
Top three Indian winning pitchers were: Craig Barton with three, JT Shields with two and Cade Cranford and Tyler Pruett both with one.
Top three Indian pitchers with stick outs were: JT Shields with 60, Craig Barton with 25 and Tyler Pruett with 20.
Next year the Indians will move back down to AA and will be in region 3. Other teams in our region will be Bleckley, Dublin, East Laurens, Northeast (Macon), Southwest (Macon) and Washington.
