Dear Citizens of Dodge County,
Your local American Legion Post 126 is planning to honor a fallen hero and inscribe his name on the current War Memorial adjacent to the courthouse. Christopher M. Dickerson, U.S. Navy, was killed in action in Iraq in 2004 during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Chris was a graduate of Dodge County High School and was a member of the Army JROTC program. Inscription will take place on Saturday, June 13.
Due to the limited space of the current memorial, we have decided to utilize the reverse side of the monument to honor Chris and any future service members killed in action. In order to do so, we are planning to inscribe his full name, the operation he served in, as well and a tribute to all from our county who may perish in the on-going war against terrorism or tyranny. In addition, we will install an outdoor light similar to what currently illuminates the front side.
The American Legion has launched a funding campaign to raise the necessary funds. We invite all veterans, friends, community members and businesses to partner with us and donate to a very worthy cause.
Please contact CSM (Ret) Steve Greer, the project director at 703-785-8489 or myself if you would like to donate.
Thank you,
Danny Mullis
