Dear editor,
I wish I had written more. It was late afternoon, the evening of the Eastman High School class reunion. My brother, Robert, came from Augusta and he and I went to Coleman Hardware as Dr. Don Parkerson was hosting the presentment of his book, “Remembering Eastman High School.” On arrival, Robert purchased two books and gave one to me.
We joined Dr. Don and several classmates at the round greeting table. I handed my book to Dr. Don to sign and he wrote the best dedication to me that I had ever read.
A while later we all went to the Terry Coleman Center for the reunion. After a while a lady came by and said Dr. Don would like for everyone to sign his book. In the middle of my cancer and not being able to think, I’m sitting there holding the book of perhaps the most contributing student ever of Eastman High School, a kid who’s family was the foundation corner stones of Dodge County and I simply signed my name and passed the book. If I had been in the right state of mind and as much as I love Dr. Don and all of his family, I could have written forever.
