All Dodge County citizens are invited to join in on a discussion regarding our school calendar. Your input will perhaps jump start the transition to better schools, fewer drop outs, higher test scores and greater satisfaction of teachers, parents and students. Right now the Board of Education (BOE) has firmly placed its support on an ineffective, inefficient and counter productive school calendar. A school calendar that is guaranteed to rob our students of up to 25% of everything they learned the previous year. Extrapolate that waste to our school budget and it represents a waste up to 25% of the 30 to 40 million tax dollars provided by you and I!
The BOE approves this calendar every year on the recommendation of the superintendent in spite of their knowledge of the great loss of learning and the waste of our tax dollars. They seem to be willing to trade the loss of learning and waste of monies to avoid experiencing the discomfort that leadership frequently brings the change (“change” in education is apparently a four letter word).
