This is a great time of the year to give a brief summary of the Dodge County High School Squaws as the 2013- 2014 season draws to a conclusion. The current record is 18-2, 5 -1 in the region and a state ranking of seventh in AAA according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
If two terms had to be chosen that describes the Squaws this season they would be “defense” and “balance” according to coach Paula Selph. The Squaws have relied heavily on their full court pressure both man-to-man and switching to zone trapping defenses that keep the opposition guessing and off balance. This type of defense has led to numerous scoring opportunities off forced turnovers.
A balanced offensive strategy has also proven effective this year. The “bigs” have drawn a great amount of attention from defenses, which has led to fantastic opportunities for the shooting guards to pull the trigger from the outside.
