R.I.P. Tim Singleton, age 76, longtime track coach and founder of the Peachtree Road Race, had a Doctorate in business, talented, smart and a very nice fellow. My father and I used to make the trophy awards for the Atlanta Track Club years back and Tim was always good to us. I was shocked to see that he had died. In 1970 the first Peachtree run had 100 serious, experienced runners and the entry fee was $2, put into a cigar box on top of Tim’s car. He told the runners to “be careful and watch out for cars.” He started something that became huge.
“We make money the old fashioned way. We print it.”

Just over a year ago 7-31-12 Ted Cruz won the Republican primary runoff in Texas, reports SenateConservatives.com. He has made a lot happen in the past year, an amazing rise, seemingly from nowhere to the top of the heap. Arizona Senator John McPain hates him, which shows you he’s a great fellow. In the Texas Senate May 29 primary election Lt. Governor David Dewhurst took 45 percent of the vote to 34 percent for Ted Cruz, with Dewhurst falling well short of a majority, forcing a Dewhurst vs. Cruz runoff, with former Dallas mayor Tom Leppert finishing third in the race. Many in the old Texas establishment supported Dewhurst, a somewhat moderate, very wealthy Republican. Texas made a good move going with the conservative Mr. Cruz.
Can we use our retirement checks to pay off our student loans?
Senator John McCain (RINO - Arizona) says he’s “concerned about the impact its [Tea Party] members are having on the ability of Republicans to get things done.” To McPain, getting things done means reaching out to his friends on the progressive Left, working for a more moderate, inclusive, watered-down America. You can see how his philosophy played out in 2008.
McPain in a recent interview with liberal magazine The New Republic (Mc was among friends) heaped praise on Hillary Clinton, calling her a “rock star.” He would never say anything good about a conservative - guaranteed. “I think she did a fine job,” gushed McPain.
A book I’d like to read - America-Lite: How Imperial Academia Dismantled Our Culture (and Ushered In the Obamacrats) by David Gelenter. A “dangerous conformist environment”, says David Gelenter, professor of computer science (tenured) at Yale University.
Ken Hanson of the Buckeye Firearms Foundation sparred with CNN (Clinton News Network) host ultraliberal Piers Morgan. I try not to watch CNN but saw the tape on the Internet, a short interview well worth watching. It was the very smooth Ken Hanson 1 Piers Morgan 0. Ken never lost his poise, calmly refuting every point made by Piers Morgan. Ken helped raise $12,000 to help George Zimmerman to buy a gun.

Ronald Reagan
Remember when the staid old Republican establishment (SORE) claimed Ronald Reagan couldn’t win in November, that he was so “extreme” that he would destroy the party and lose big? The same folks now pretend they were Reagan enthusiasts from the start.
Remember roly poly Candy Crowley, liberal presidential debate host? DrudgeReport.com says Candy interrupted Mitt Romney 28 times and gave B.H. Obama 9 percent more time than Mitt. Why do Republicans agree to allow partisan Democrats to moderate debates anyway?
Candy No Credibility Crowley is a rotund Republican-basher. She had earlier called the Romney-Ryan ticket a “death wish.” The Bear on TheAbsurdReport called her “a partisan hack.” That’s actually being too nice.Bumper sticker of the day: If You Get Any Closer, Introduce Yourself.
Name of the week: Joe Gschwendtner, known as Joe G, of course, Republican politician from Castle Rock, Colorado (very scenic area), also the home of “The Black Avenger” Ken Hamblin, one of my favorites. To me he was about the best talk show host, certainly the funniest with his deadpan humor, now retired. Remember Ken? He was one talk host I always tried to listen to. I figure I’ve been to Colorado at least fifteen times, thanks to Eastern Airlines, my former employer.
