Do you live in Eastman City Council District 5? Have you ever wanted to be a city councilperson? If so, now is your chance.
The Eastman City Council voted at their meeting on Monday, July 22 to fill the vacant seat in District 5. The council will accept written applications to fill the unexpired term of David Rawlins due to his death.
Anyone who wants to apply for the position must have been a resident of the City of Eastman for the past 12 months and must live in District 5.
Applications will be accepted at Eastman City Hall through Thursday, August 22.
The city council has scheduled a called meeting on Thursday, August 22, to go over the applications and make a decision as to who will fill the unexpired term. The person that is chosen will be sworn in as the District 5 city councilperson at the council’s regular meeting on Monday, August 26, at 6:00 p.m.
The appointment will expire on December 31, 2013.
The council also voted to propose the millage rate for 2013 at six (6) mills. That is the same millage rate the city has had for numerous past years.
The council also has called for a special meeting to be held on Friday, July 26, at 9:30 a.m. to discuss the revitalization of the old Greyhound Bus Station on College Street (across from Advance Auto Parts).
And let Willie Bell become a government official (term used loosely considering we are talking about Eastman/Dodge County)....WHAT A JOKE...
