The millage rate for school taxes was a topic of discussion at this past Thursday night’s school board meeting. The school board approved the millage rate to remain the same at 12 mills for fiscal year 2014. The advertisement for the Dodge County Board of Education millage rate is published in today’s edition of The Dodge County News on page 8B. The school board will have a called meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2013, to officially adopt the proposed millage rate.
Superintendent Dr. Melinda Dennis recognized several groups of students as “Examples of Excellence”. South Dodge Elementary School (SDES) students Chase Bryson, Will McCranie, Gabrielle Mills and Jayci Yawn were recognized as “Artists of the Month”.
The Dodge County High School (DCHS) Indians baseball team and reigning region champions were honored at the meeting. Coaches Jared Allen and Michael Lowery along with team players Aron Chick, Austin Clements, Jay Cravey, Lane Crummey, Lee Gaulke, Hunter Graham, Andrew Hardy, Tad Honeycutt, Austin Hussey, Jonathan Perdue, Josh Perdue, Cain Peterson, Lance Pruett, J.T. Shields, Jordan Smith, Clint Thompson and Slade Yawn were recognized.
The DCHS Indians soccer team and reigning region champions were also honored at the meeting. Coach Sheila Honeycutt and team players Hunter Augins, Brice Blocker, Josh Brooks, John Burrows, Derrien Carr, Jordan Cook, Maurice Clark, Calen Dennis, Jacob Holloway, Cole Honeycutt, Colby Jones, Jarrett Lee, Chip Miller, Jay Moye, Seth Palmer, Shyam Patel, Greg Pittman, Jake Ruffin, Joseph Rye, Walker Spradley, Samuel Stafford and Mitch Tanner were recognized.
