Congratulations Cochran, Georgia. You made the Speedtrap.org website. This is a national website covering every state and highlighting thousands of speed traps. It mentions a sudden drop in the speed limit in Cochran as the police sit in the dark just south of Middle Georgia College, in black cars, naturally, ready to jump some poor soul who failed to drastically hit the brakes and go from 55 to 35. It’s all about revenue, not safety, no matter what they say. Carried to an extreme, these tactics could severely hurt business when motorists start avoiding such towns. Be careful. Before taking a trip, check the area on this great site Speedtrap.org. Shame on these predators all over the USA. I drive through Cochran occasionally, or used to. I now plan to use the bypass.

            Dear editor,

As a local community we rely on law enforcement officers to keep our neighborhoods safe, enforce our laws equally, and respond in times of crisis.

These men and women sustain peace and order across our communities, and we look to them as models of courage and integrity. This week we honor their extraordinary service and sacrifice, and we remember the fallen heroes whose actions left behind safer streets and stronger communities.

All gave some but some gave all in serving their communities.
Continue reading "Letter to the Editor"

            Dear editor,

After reading Buddy’s Corner from the May 2 issue of The Dodge County News, I was compelled to write back to the citizens of Eastman as well as the entire county. I was so disappointed to hear of more quick decisions made by the city manager and council, especially, when the airport authority is connected to telling the city officials what to do AGAIN. Remember their last quick decision concerning the emergency meeting from then chairman Eddie Driggers of the airport authority to stop the governor from signing the new bill to change the membership of the airport authority.
Continue reading "Letter to the Editor"
