Crime Reports

Rashes of car break-ins have been reported throughout Dodge County over the last two (2) weeks.

The thieves have been taking firearms, money, GPS devices and other items from unlocked vehicles parked at residences.

The break-ins have occurred in the Lakeview and North Lakes subdivisions outside of Eastman and also in the Rhine/Milan area. [Full Story »] 

Dodge County Sheriff’s investigators recovered multiple stolen vehicles last week and made three (3) arrests in connection with the cases.

On Friday, May 28, deputies recovered a stolen motorcycle and a 4-wheel all terrain vehicle (ATV) from a residence on Spivey Road outside of Eastman.

The motorcycle and the ATV were stolen from a residence in Gresston earlier in the week. [Full Story »] 

Public safety officials experienced a case of déjà vu Saturday morning, May 8, at the Eastman Youth Development Facility (YDF). Officials at the YDF and various Dodge County public safety agencies met last Wednesday, May 5, to plan for emergency responses to the YDF. On Friday, the YDF and the various agencies held an emergency drill, which simulated a riot going on inside the facility. The planning and drill paid off in a big way over the weekend. Dodge County Superior Court heard more cases recently. The following are the results of those cases.

Steven Martel was charged with three counts of misdemeanor deposit account fraud/bad checks $499.00 or less. On count one he received 12 months probation, a $300.00 fine and to pay restitution. On count two he received 12 months probation to be served consecutively, a $300.00 fine and to pay restitution and on count three he received 12 months probation to be served concurrently, a $300.00 fine and to pay restitution.

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office conducted simultaneous traffic safety checkpoints Friday evening, April 23 at multiple locations throughout the county.

The traffic safety checkpoints led to twenty one (21) arrests and multiple warnings.

Deputies were assisted by troopers from the Georgia State Patrol (GSP) post out of Helena and officers from the Middle Georgia College (MGC) Police Department.

Dodge County Sheriff’s investigators have made arrests in the Dodge County Middle School burglary and have solved another burglary ring.
Sheriff’s investigators, through physical evidence, were able to identify two (2) suspects in the school burglary. Sheriff’s investigators learned that the City of Eastman also had reports of similar burglaries. Sheriff’s investigators, working with the investigator from the Eastman Police Department, were able to solve four (4) different burglaries at three (3) different locations and recover much of the property which was taken in the burglaries.

Dodge County Sheriff Jeff Hinson reports that Dodge County Sheriff’s investigators and agents from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) are investigating a shooting that occurred sometime Friday evening, in which two (2) Dodge County men were shot. Around 11:00 p.m., Freddie Lampkin (age 25), with a Chester address, showed up at the Dodge County emergency room with a gunshot wound to the leg. [Full Story »] 

Dodge County Sheriff’s deputies made numerous drug arrests last week as the result of traffic stops. On Saturday, April 3, deputies stopped a vehicle on Sheldon Street in Eastman for loud music and made two (2) arrests for drugs. Deputies found the driver, Manuel Thomas (age 19) of Eastman, to be operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

Dodge Superior Court disposed of the following cases recently.

Quinton M. Johnekins petitioned for adjudication, which was revoked and was sentenced to three years in prison.

Carlton Deshawn Keaton’s probation was revoked. He was sentenced to two years in prison. [Full Story »]
