Three more arrests have been made by the Dodge and Pulaski County Sheriff’s Offices in connection with the multi-county theft ring. On August 30, sheriff’s officials announced the solving of the theft ring and the first of four (4) arrests in the case with additional charges and suspects to be charged with the theft ring. Dodge County sheriff’s investigators have tied the three additional alleged culprits to burglaries which occurred on the Lofton Jones Road in Dodge County. [Full Story »] 

Rhine Police Department, along with the Oconee Drug Task Force and the Eastman Police Department, has made a drug arrest in Rhine. [Full Story »] 

Cooperation from sheriff’s offices of three different counties has lead to break up of a major theft ring covering two counties thus far. Sheriff’s investigators have arrested five people in the investigation. Dodge County and Pulaski County sheriff’s investigators first broke the case last Wednesday afternoon (August 24) and solved several burglaries which occurred in both counties. Sheriff’s investigators arrested Robert Johnson (age 42), of Eastman, and charged him with multiple counts of burglary, criminal damage to property and theft by taking on that Wednesday. Investigators also had leads that there were four other suspected individuals involved in some of the burglaries and thefts. [Full Story »] 

Law enforcement officers have arrested a Dodge County man and charged him with trafficking in cocaine. Dodge County sheriff’s deputies and troopers from the Georgia State Patrol were conducting a traffic safety checkpoint Sunday morning, August 21, on the Abbeville Highway (Georgia Highway 87) when the arrest was made. Chato Mitchell (age 31), of Eastman, was arrested at the checkpoint and charged with driving on a suspended driver’s license and trafficking in cocaine. Officials seized a significant quantity of suspected cocaine, cash and a vehicle from Mitchell. [Full Story »] 

Dodge County sheriff’s investigators have solved an old burglary case based on a latent fingerprint left at the residence which was burglarized last year on Old Dodge High Road. Investigators lifted the print from the crime scene and submitted it to the State Crime Lab. Investigators recently received a positive match on the fingerprint from the crime lab. Subsequently, Charlie Mann, Jr., (age 71), of Eastman, was arrested in connection with the case. Mann was charged with burglary on August 1. [Full Story »] 

Investigators with the Eastman Police Department have arrested two juveniles and have solved five church burglaries and one residential burglary. [Full Story »] 

It is back to school time in Dodge County, which means a surge of children commuting to and from school this week. In fact, more than 3,400 students from Pre-K through the twelfth grade are expected to be on the roadways beginning Thursday morning by school busses, private vehicles, bicycles or on foot. Georgia’s Illegal Immigration Reform and Enforcement Act (also known as House Bill 87) became law on July 1, 2011. One month later little has changed for Georgia Law Enforcement.
The Georgia Public Safety Training Center (G.P.S.T.C) recently conducted training on House Bill 87 at the annual conference of the Georgia Law Enforcement Command College. Various sheriffs, police chiefs, and command staff personnel of agencies were in attendance. [Full Story »]
