Dear editor,

What is a real man?

Today’s women, as well as men, do not know what does it mean to be a real man. Most men think that it means the biggest, strongest guy around, the man with the most money, cars and possessions. Many men and women think it is the man with the most power and respect. Many women are frustrated as they try to figure out what that means for them and their relationship with those men. Dear editor,
I need to talk to the voters of Dodge County about an ugly word called tax. I am referring to the one cent sales tax we will vote on next Tuesday. You probably have heard it called SPLOST. It seems that our folks are just a little confused about why we need this money when we already pay school property tax. The U.S. Congress was sold a bill of goods by Ethanol Lobbyists that stated that ethanol blended gasoline would make the U.S. less dependent on OPEC and would reduce emissions.

Dear editor,
DCHS wrapped up the 2010-2011 school year celebrating excellent test scores, talented teachers, and a stellar overall academic performance by the student body; however, in spite of everyone putting their best foot forward, the school failed to meet Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP).
The criterion for meeting the AYP standards set by No Child Left Behind are test participation, academic performance, and graduation rate. Due to efforts by teachers and students, DCHS performed well in the first two areas. The Georgia High School graduation test was taken by the required number of students, and the Annual Measurable Objectives (AMOs) for the math, English, and reading portions of the test were met; however, the school’s graduation rate did not meet the required standard.
