Dear editor,

Can voters and taxpayers trust Dodge County Commissioners? On November 21 Commissioners met in a secret meeting to discuss spending tax dollars for the 2012 budget. This news comes at a time when taxpayers are already ill because of the approaching deadline to pay taxes December 20. As law-abiding tax paying citizens, we expect no less of our elected officials to follow the law. Trust in the actions of elected officials is critical when it comes to making decisions that affect the lives and pocketbooks of its citizens. [Full Story »]

Newt Gingrich racked up between $1.6 and $1.8 million in payments from Freddie Mac through the years for, the former speaker maintains, essentially doing nothing.

It’s not inconceivable that he’s right. Such was the incredible largesse available to the government-sponsored mortgage giant that one or two million dollars over the course of a decade was practically chump change. Gingrich says he didn’t lobby for Freddie, and in response to a question about his payments at one of the Republican debates, said he only offered advice to Freddie “as a historian” that its lending practices were insane. Congressman Ron Paul, showing his political astuteness way back, was one of only four Republican congressmen to endorse Ronald Reagan over Gerald Ford in the 1976 Republican Primary and was the first of the four to do so. If voters had listened to these four and dumped Ford in 1976 most people would not know who Jimmy Carter was today. You saw what happened in 1980. His toll-free number is 1-888-322-1414, updated each Monday. He is highly critical of Newt Gingrich today and well he should be, since Newt sneakily tried to defeat Ron when he returned from medicine to Congress in 1996. Ron is still there. Newt isn’t. Ron Paul could hold that seat for life but he’s giving it up after this term. When he retires from Congress he draws no Congressional pension. He is truly the taxpayer’s best friend. [Full Story »]

President Barack Obama was wrong to say at the Asia-Pacific economic summit that America has gotten “lazy” in the past few decades at attracting foreign investment.

What he should have said, in light of his administration’s handling of the proposed Keystone XL pipeline, is that America has become quite adept at blocking it. To delay the project for more than three years and then, after giving every indication that it would go through, announce the ultimate decision will be kicked past the 2012 election takes hard work and brio. Pete Wilson, California’s U.S. Senator and two-term governor was one of the first U.S. politicians, maybe the first, to fight illegal immigration. Liberals today claim he hurt his career and the Republican Party by doing so, a big lie. He won big after cracking down on illegal immigration. The reason California Republicans after Wilson did not run well is they stupidly listened to liberals and were cowed into silence on the illegal onslaught. Dear editor,
We would like to address our concerns about the flying of the outlawed 1956 Georgia flag, on the Eastman courthouse grounds.

This flag was overwhelmingly outlawed in 2004 Georgia statewide vote with 73% of the voters voting to remove the 1956 flag that incorporated the Confederate battle flag. The results of the vote deem this flag illegal, therefore making it illegal to be flown on public property. Eastman’s courthouse grounds are public properties. Why are we still flying this flag on public property? [Full Story »]
