The Dodge County Middle School archery team was recognized at the April 11 meeting of the Dodge County Board of Education. The students were presented “Examples of Excellence” certificates by superintendent Dr. Melinda Dennis. The archery team recently placed fourth in the state competition and earned a team score of 3005, which earned them a spot in the national archery competition in Louisville, Kentucky in May. April 2, 2013 the Dodge County High School (DCHS) Indians took the long ride to Thomson to take on the Bulldogs.
I don’t usually go into a lot of detail of the Indians games but this game had an ending that can’t go un-talked about.
The Indians had trailed the entire game. The score was four to zero going into the top of the sixth inning. The Indians managed to load the bases but had two outs.

The 12-year old and under (12U) Middle Georgia Swat team won first place in the Amateur Softball Association Premier “Get Yo Game On” tournament on Saturday, April 6, 2013. Swat went undefeated in the tournament. Dodge Impact 10-year old and under (10U) softball team finished second out of eight teams in the “Seal the Deal” tournament in Cordele on Saturday, March 16, 2013. The Dodge County Wrestling Club (DCW) recently finished up their season with six wrestlers representing the club at the 2013 Georgia Little Kids State Tournament.
Placing first for the second time in his young career was Anthony Mannella, who got his start at DCW several years ago and has been representing the Georgia national team for the past two years competing across the nation.

Abby Greer, a competitive gymnast for Emerald City Artistic Sports in Dublin, recently attended the 2013 Smoky Mountain Vacation Gymnastics Classic in Sevierville, Tennessee. She competed on vault, floor exercise, uneven bars and balance beam and placed first in the All-Around competition. Greer is currently a two-time state champion and state runner-up. She has represented the Georgia state team three years in a row. Greer is the daughter of Steve and Jennifer Greer of Eastman and has a brother, Aiden.
