The Dodge County Indian football team hosted their archrivals, the Dublin Fighting Irish, this past Friday in a region match up. The Irish were 2-0 and ranked number 10 in the state and the Indians were 1-2.
Dodge County received the opening kickoff at their own 35 yard line and in a most impressive drive, marched down the field on the running of Laquan Hogue and Cyprin Burse to score a touchdown and take a 7-0 lead after Cole Evans’ extra point kick was good at the 9:20 mark of the first quarter. The Indian defense forced the Irish offense to punt after three plays on Dublin’s opening drive but two plays later Dodge fumbled the ball right back to the Irish, setting up their first touchdown of the night. Dublin recovered the ball at the Indians’ 34-yard line and on the next play scored on a touchdown pass from that point. The score was 7-7 with 6:15 left in the first quarter.
