The Dodge County Indians hosted the Toombs County Bulldogs on Friday, October 9. The Indians and Bulldogs have met seven times over the years with the Indians leading the series 5-2. The Bulldogs have never beaten Dodge County in Eastman. The Indians held on to pull out the 28-24 win over the Bulldogs and keep that streak alive. The Indians are now 3-3 on the season. The Dodge County High Lady Indians finished their regular season and began region tournament play last week. The Lady Indians finished regular season play with a 9-1 win over non-region foe Telfair County and a loss to Vidalia 3-7. The Dodge County High Lady Indians softball team won two of three games last week. They lost to Bleckley County on Tuesday, September 22 in a close 3-2 game. They defeated Dublin 14-0 on Wednesday, September 23 and Toombs County 7-4 on Thursday, September 24. The Lady Indians are now 10-8 overall and 6-3 in the sub-region. Dodge is in third place in the 3AA-B Sub-region and will finish the regular season with two games this week against non-region foe Telfair County on Monday, September 28 and will travel to Toombs County on Tuesday, September 29 for the final sub-region game of the regular season. The Region 3AA tournament will begin Saturday, October 3 in Swainsboro. [Full Story »]

The Dodge County Indian football team traveled to Augusta on Friday, September 25 to take on the Laney Wildcats. The Indians improved their record to 2-3 with a good 20-6 win over the Wildcats. Coach Lee Campbell commented, “This was a good win, the kids fought hard, especially after two straight weeks of close games where we ended up on the short end. The Dodge County Indian football team hosted their archrivals, the Dublin Fighting Irish, this past Friday in a region match up. The Irish were 2-0 and ranked number 10 in the state and the Indians were 1-2.
Dodge County received the opening kickoff at their own 35 yard line and in a most impressive drive, marched down the field on the running of Laquan Hogue and Cyprin Burse to score a touchdown and take a 7-0 lead after Cole Evans’ extra point kick was good at the 9:20 mark of the first quarter. The Indian defense forced the Irish offense to punt after three plays on Dublin’s opening drive but two plays later Dodge fumbled the ball right back to the Irish, setting up their first touchdown of the night. Dublin recovered the ball at the Indians’ 34-yard line and on the next play scored on a touchdown pass from that point. The score was 7-7 with 6:15 left in the first quarter. [Full Story »]
