The top seeded Dodge County Middle School Lady Warriors began the playoffs last Tuesday as they host Dublin. As was the case in the regular season, the Lady Irish were totally overmatched as Dodge rolled into Saturday’s semi-final game against Vidalia.

Haley Holloway breezed through the top of the first as she had a pair of strikeouts and Dodge came to bat and they would hit for quite awhile. Leah Creech would single to start the inning and she stole second. One out later, Margaret Simmons doubled her in for a 1-0 lead. A hit by Lizzie Massingill would put two runners on for Kaylee Peterson, who drove in Simmons for a 2-0 lead. [Full Story »]

The Dodge County Indians (2-3) traveled to Brooklet this past Friday night to play the Southeast Bulloch Yellow Jackets (1-5) in a regular season region game. The Indians looked to improve their overall record, but more importantly, looked to improve their region wins in the 3AA region.

The Indians first score of the game came with minutes of the game when D’Eric McNair (#11) led the Indians into Jacket territory to the 9-yard line. McNair carried the ball 9-yards into the end zone for a Dodge County touchdown. The extra point attempt by Walt Turner (#86) was good. Dodge County lead the game 7-0 with six minutes, four seconds left to play in the first quarter.

Southeast Bulloch took possession of the ball on their opening drive. The Yellow Jackets moved the ball down field but were stopped by the Indian defense forcing a fourth down punt to the Indians.

The Indians took their second possession of the first quarter and marched quickly down field to the 15-yard line. With one minute remaining in the first quarter, McNair threw a 15-yard pass to Javier Spencer (#12) who ran into the end zone for a touchdown. Lady Warriors take top seed in region, beat West Laurens 6-5

It was a high drama Tuesday at the Eastman-Dodge Recreation Department as the Dodge County Middle School Lady Warriors hosted West Laurens with top seed and home field advantage in the upcoming region tournament on the line. Dodge would claim an early 4-1 lead, but the Lady Raiders would battle back to take a 5-4 lead going to the fourth. Dodge would tie the game at 5-5 and would send the game to extra innings. That set the scene for the shortstop Margaret Simmons as she shot a 3-0 pitch with two outs that scored Leah Creech from third with the game winner and a 6-5 Dodge win. With top seed in hand, Dodge will host Dublin Tuesday at 4:30 at the department. A Dodge win will bring the semi-finals and finals to Eastman on Saturday with games at 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. [Full Story »]

The Dodge County High School Lady Indians opened their 2011 playoff season last Thursday as they hosted Swainsboro. Dodge used timely hitting and strong pitching as the Lady Indians won both games by 8-0 scores. Winning the series got Dodge into the AA state tournament.

The pitchers dominated the game in the early going. Katie Selph got the call for Dodge. She was in complete control in the early going as she had six strikeouts in the first three innings including all three batters in the second. The game was still scoreless going to the Dodge half of the third. Ashley Roland reached on an error and Lila Coleman walked to begin the inning. Coleman was playing for Clair Greer who was lost for the year with a shoulder injury she had received Wednesday during practice. Jaye Hilliard would single to lead the bases. Blakelyn Bundick hit a sacrifice fly to score Roland and Coleman would score on an error and Dodge would take a 2-0 lead. A pitch causing the bases to be reloaded with two outs would hit Selph. Nikki Graham would single home for Hilliard for a 3-0 Dodge lead. Hannah Moore would be hit by a pitch scoring Bundick for a 4-0 game Ashley Roland singled down the right field line to score Selph and Graham for a 6-0 Dodge lead. Warriors dominate Swainsboro, 22-6

On Thursday, the Dodge County Middle School Warriors ran their record to 2-2 with a commanding 22-6 win on the road against Swainsboro. The Warriors now control their own destiny for a playoff as wins over East Laurens this Thursday on the road and a season ending win over Bleckley County next Thursday in Eastman will put Dodge in the playoffs. The Dodge County Indians hosted the Jefferson County Warriors this past Friday night in Eastman at Memorial Stadium. The Indians (2-2) were seeking their second region win of the year against the Warriors (2-3).

Dodge won the coin toss and deferred to the second half for the kickoff.

Jefferson County started their opening drive with first and ten on their 38-yard line. After two consecutive first downs, the Warriors were met by a tough Dodge defensive line and were forced to punt and the Indians took their first drive of the game into Jefferson territory with a huge punt return. The Indians moved the ball quickly and on first and goal on the 8-yard line, D’Eric McNair (#11) threw a pass to Leonard Floyd (#83) for a touchdown. [Full Story »]

The Dodge County High School Lady Indians wrapped up regular season play with games against Northside Warner Robins and Vidalia. Dodge defeated Northside 9-1 on the road in a make up game. Dodge hosted a good Vidalia team to wrap up the season play and fell by a 6-3 score. [Full Story »]

The Dodge County Middle School Lady Warriors stayed undefeated in regular season play with wins over Toombs County and Dublin this past week. On Saturday, Dodge hosted Diamond Day as they split a pair of games with Vidalia and West Laurens. Dodge will host a first round game, probably Dublin, in post-season play. The game will be played Tuesday at 4:40 p.m. at the Eastman-Dodge Recreation Department.

Dodge opened their play last Tuesday as they hosted Toombs County. The Lady Warriors opened up the scoring in the second. With two outs, Faith Manning and Haley Holloway drew walks and a single by Leah Creech loaded the basis. Margret Simmons singled to center scoring Manning and Creech for a 2-0 Dodge lead. The Dodge County Middle School Lady Warriors remained undefeated in their 2011 softball season as they won a pair of region games. On Tuesday, Dodge hosted East Laurens.

The Lady Warriors used strong pitching and defense for an 8-0 win. On Thursday, Dodge traveled to Cochran to play Bleckley County. Dodge scored in every inning and coasted to a 10-0 win.

Dodge will be at home this Saturday as they host Diamond Day at the Eastman-Dodge Recreation Department. Dodge will play Vidalia at 10:00 a.m. and West Laurens at 12:00 p.m. Dodge will play West Laurens number two at 2:00 p.m. [Full Story »]
