Two Dodge County High School Indian baseball players have been named to the All-Middle Georgia Georgia High School Association (GHSA) baseball team.

Junior Clint Taylor was named to the All-Middle Georgia GHSA baseball team first team as a pitcher.

During the 2009-2010 season Taylor went 6-2 with a 1.4 earned run average. He struck out 96 in 60 innings and had three saves.

Taylor was also named to the Region 3-AA All Region first team and was voted Region 3-AA pitcher of the year. [Full Story »]

The Dodge County Indians and coaches loaded the bus and took off to the Fellowship of Christian Athletics (FCA) team football camp at Georgia Southwestern University in Americus on July 12-14, 2010.

The Indians were one of 11 teams from all over the state that participated in the camp that is comprised of seven on seven competition games and a lineman’s camp.

Other schools participating were Alpharetta, Atkinson County, Americus-Sumter, Clark Central, Clinch County, Pompano Beach, Florida, Tift County and Tift Area. [Full Story »]

Michael Davis of Cochran won his third Dublin-Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep Super Street Feature, while Jason Floyd of Cochran won his sixth Pure Stock Feature of the season Saturday night July 17, 2010 at Dublin-441 Speedway.

Davis started the feature from the second row outside, slipped by outside pole sitter Craig Ussery of Milan, then edged by race leader Willis McKenzie of Bartow in a heated fender duel with two laps to go. [Full Story »]

Softball tryouts scheduled at middle school

Dodge County Middle School softball tryouts for upcoming sixth, seventh and eighth graders will be held August 2-4, 2010 from 6:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Dodge County Recreation Department field number three.

All players are reminded to bring their completed permission form and physical form.

All players should also make sure they have transportation to and from the recreation department and be on time.

Middle Georgia Bikers plan annual ride

The Middle Georgia Bikers will be holding their seventh annual benefit run on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at the Empire Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. and will be leaving at 10:15 sharp.

The fee is $25.00 per participate and a full BBQ buffet with all the trimmings will be served after the ride. [Full Story »]

Football players from the Eastman Dodge County Recreation Department recently attended the Florida State University Youth Football Camp that was held June 13-17, 2010.

Eastman Dodge County Recreation coach Ricky Hargrove also attended to get advice and tips for the upcoming Randall Ikedionwu Memorial Football camp to be held at the recreation department in August.

Intruders take first at national tournament

The Intruders fast-pitch softball team took first place in the CamSports National Invitational Tournament (NIT) at Crisp County Park in Cordele Saturday, June 26, 2010.

The Intruders are a 14 and under travel team, but competed in the 16 and under age division where they captured first place.

Following two pool game losses, the Intruders executed precision teamwork and remained in the winner’s bracket all day to capture the first place finish.

Middle Georgia College Basketball Coach Cedric Jordan recently attended the top 120 junior college player James Mullen Camp in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Jordan states “I learned a lot more about how to better coach my team and I really enjoyed my time in Tulsa meeting all the top head coaches.”

The fourth annual Grappling Indians wrestling camp will be held from July 22-26, 2010 at the wrestling gym.

Younger kids will meet from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Bigger kids will meet from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
