Indians overtaken by Pirates in final quarter

The Dodge County Indians football team opened their 2010 season at home against the Appling County Pirates in a non-region match-up last Friday. The Indians jumped out to 14-0 lead after two quarters of play and added a field goal in the third quarter to lead 17-0. The Pirates then came storming back in the last quarter and a half to score 18 unanswered points and overtake Dodge and then hold on for the 18-17 win in the final minutes.
The Indians first score came as Dodge County’s Leonard Floyd ran the opening kick-off back 82 yards for a touchdown. Cole Evans’ point after kick was good and the Indians took the early lead 7-0 at the 11:47 mark of the first quarter. The Pirates and Indians traded punts on the next couple of possessions. The Middle Georgia Hurricanes are gearing up for another successful season.

Many tournaments have been scheduled and the girls are really excited for the new season to begin.

Bake sale to be held

The Dodge County Middle School Archery Team Bullseye Booster Club will be holding a bake sale.

The bake sale will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Dodge County High School baseball field.

Lady Indians Junior Varsity team wins first four games

The Dodge County Lady Indians Junior Varsity team opened the season in the Waycross tournament on August 13, 2010.

The first game saw the lady Indians junior varsity take on Bradwell Institute. The Lady Indians scored a run in the first to take a early 1-0 lead.

The Lady Indians would add two in the third to go up to three to zero.

A nine run fourth inning would end the ball game after four innings making the final score Dodge 2 and Bradwell Institute 0.

Zaxby’s night set

Football season is here and the Magnolia Midlands (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) FCA will host a tailgate party at Zaxby’s on Friday, August 27, 2010.

The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. with music, games and prizes.

At 7:00 p.m. fans will enter Memorial Stadium to cheer for the Indians as they take on the Appling County Pirates.

A percentage of the profits from Zaxby’s will go to benefit the ministry of FCA.

This past summer FCA was able to send 22 football players, four coaches and members of the high school leadership team to camps for training and to encourage their spiritual walk. [Full Story »]

The Eastman-Dodge Recreation Department will be holding football registration now through September 4, 2010.

This is for ages six years old to 12 years old.

Registration fee is $35.00.

The season is scheduled to begin on October 2, 2010.

The Dodge County Lady Indians softball team won three more games last week to improve their 6-0 to begin the 2010 season.

After winning three games the in the Softball in the Swamp Tournament against Wayne County (AAAA), Brantley County (AA) and Valdosta High (AAAAA) the weekend before, the Lady Indians continued their winnings ways as they traveled to Warner Robins High School on Monday, August 16 to take on the AAAA Lady Demons and defeated them 5-0.

Dodge then hosted the Lady Demons in Eastman on Wednesday, August 18 for their opening home game of the season and defeated them again, this time by the score of 9-1. [Full Story »]

Rodney Marcus of East Dublin Georgia won his second career Pure Stock Feature at Dublin-441 Speedway Saturday night August 14, 2010.

Lance Floyd of Cochran finished second followed by Bobby Pulsifer of Hawkinsville, David Ussery of Dublin and Jason Floyd of Cochran.

Willis McKenzie of Bartow outdueled Justin Sapp of Cochran to capture his sixth Dublin-Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep Super Street Feature of the season. [Full Story »]

Indians scrimmage

After spending the week at Fort Stewart for the 2010 Indian Football Camp, Dodge County Indian Head Football Coach Lee Campbell and staff took their Indian football squad to Ocilla for a scrimmage game against the Irwin County Indians on Friday, August 13, 2010.

The Indians traveled straight from Fort Stewart to Ocilla for the scrimmage.

Coach Campbell and staff used the scrimmage as a chance to see what the Indians could do in some live action after spending the week going against each other.

Dodge County did come out on the losing side in the scrimmage with a 7-13 score in favor of Irwin County, with most of the scoring coming in the first quarter [Full Story »]

The Dodge County Lady Indians softball team under the leadership of new head coach Tommy Adcock and assistants, Terry Evans and Paula Selph traveled to Waycross this past weekend to participate the Softball in the Swamp Tournament hosted by the Brantley County High School.

The Lady Indians opened up their 2010 campaign with three straight wins in tournament before the tournament was called to due to the weather.
Dodge defeated Wayne County 6-5 in a comeback win in the first game on Friday afternoon.

The Lady Indians then played back to back games on Saturday morning and defeated the host team Brantley County 9-0 in the first game and the Valdosta High Lady Wildcats 9-4 in the second game of the morning. [Full Story »]
