Two citizens called the Arson Hotline in reference to an arson that happened at 6026 Leitch Street in Eastman that led to the arrest of James English of Eastman.

Both individuals received $5,000.00 from the Georgia Arson Control Board.

Wrestlers host annual match

Recently the entire Dodge County Wrestling program, youth club, middle school and high school teams hosted the first annual Tomahawk Chop to showcase the talents of wrestlers at ages between 5-18 here in our county.

Wrestling in two gyms at the Peabody Complex for the first time, the Jr. Grappling Indians started off their home debut with a flurry of action that shocked a packed crowd from Turner and Dodge Counties.

By the time the dust settled the Jr. Grapplers rolled through Turner County youth club with 25 wins against only three losses.

Meanwhile, the middle school team was in the adjacent gymnasium battling against Dublin, East Laurens and Turner County middle school teams. [Full Story »]

Deputies make drug arrests

Dodge County Sheriff’s deputies have made several arrests for drug charges over the last couple of weeks as the result of traffic enforcement.

On Wednesday, November 24, deputies arrested Terrance Carr (age 30) of Chauncey, as the result of a traffic stop on the WPA Road.

Carr was charged with possession of marijuana, obstruction of an officer, driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol/drugs, driving an uninsured vehicle and possession of an open container of alcohol in vehicle.

On Thursday, November 25, Phillip Nutt (age 20) of Tifton, was arrested as the result of a traffic stop on Georgia Highway 46. Nutt has been charged with possession of marijuana and operating a vehicle without a seat belt. [Full Story »]

Three Junior Grappling Indians traveled to Watkinsville for the first leg of the

Tour of Georgia wrestling tournament series recently.

After a full day of wrestling, Aiden Greer earned two gold medals

at 80 pounds and 84 pounds; Porter Faulk earned a silver

medal and Heath Sanders earned a bronze medal.

Three Dodge County Wrestling Club Jr. Grappling Indians recently traveled to Orlando for the USA Wrestling “O’Town Showdown” middle and elementary school nationals.

After a full day of wrestling competing against kids from as far as Wisconsin, the dynamic duo of Vincent Mannella and Anthony Mannella rose to the challenge and brought home national level medals.

In the Mouse House division, little Anthony Mannella traded two wins for two losses and ended his day with a sixth place medal.

Battling in the three to five year old grade division at 60 pounds, reigning state champ Vincent Mannella, fell early in the bracket to the eventual champion yet fought his way back through several matches to earn a third place finish and Bronze medal. [Full Story »]
