Dodge County Commissioner Carl Hosford (third from left) was honored with a

plaque and received a standing ovation at his last commissioner’s meeting on Monday, December 20.

Hosford decided not to seek reelection and will be replaced by Terry Niblett in January.

The holidays are a time of cheer, but they can also be a time for battling traffic and bad weather all the way to Grandma’s house.

Staying safe should be a top priority for all travelers so the Better Business Bureau (BBB) recommends taking a few precautions when hitting the road this holiday.

Every year, holiday travelers take to the skies and hit the rails, but most spill onto the highways.

Last year, AAA estimated that 87.7 million Americans traveled more than 50 miles over the holidays—85 percent of which drove.

Because of weather conditions and increased traffic, staying safe on the roads over the holidays takes a few additional precautions. [Full Story »]

The Dodge County Middle School wrestling team has experienced

an exhausting schedule traveling across middle Georgia before the Christmas break.

Competing in Jeff-Davis, Telfair County and Laurens County the Grappling

Warriors have extended their undefeated streak to 13 wins against no defeats in team dual competition.

In only their second year as a team, they have exceeded all expectations.

At every stop, our middle school wrestlers are turning heads and

receiving laudatory comments form officials and coaches.

A Dodge County road crew worker called 911 last Wednesday afternoon, December 15, to report several suspicious people on the dirt portion of Orphans Cemetery Road.

The worker reported seeing two men walking down the dirt road and a third man sitting in a van parked at a rural church.

The report led to deputies discovering a burglary in progress at a residence and barn in the area.

Law enforcement officials arrested three (3) Cochran men involved in the incident. [Full Story »]
