Locals visit capitol for "Equine Day"

The Georgia Department of Agriculture Commodities Commission for Equine held the annual Georgia Equine Youth Championship Day at the capitol on Tuesday, February 5, 2013.

John Clements, vice-chairman of the Commodities Commission and chairman of Youth Equine Day helped coordinate the day. There were over 700 children, parents and grandparents in attendance.

Jaley Smith, daughter of Michael and Brandy Smith of Gresston, qualified for World National Barrel Horse Association.

The 12-year old and under (12U) Middle Georgia Swat team won first place in the Amateur Softball Association Premier “Get Yo Game On” tournament on Saturday, April 6, 2013. Swat went undefeated in the tournament. Senator Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) is right. He says Republicans should pull away from the “bomb everybody” mind-set. In order for the current administration to move forward with its plan, the American citizens must first be disarmed. If we the people allow that to happen, we deny freedom to all generations to follow.

Hunters and others recently may have heard one of multiple news sources claim that the deer season length was to be reduced in the 2013-2014 hunting year. Not the case.
