The Dodge County Indians traveled to Dublin this past Friday night to play in the Shamrock Bowl against the Dublin High School Fighting Irish. This high school rivalry is one of middle Georgia’s most popular Friday night football games that dates back years. The Indians looked to make it two straight years in a row defeating the Irish.

The City of Eastman has taken delivery of a new fire truck. The fire truck arrived last week and has been put into service. The truck will be stationed at Eastman Fire Station #2 on Main Street. In a called meeting on Thursday, August 22, the Eastman City council unanimously appointed Prince Dawson to fill the unexpired term of the late David Rawlins in District 5. Dawson was among three candidates that applied for the job. Willie Belle Rawlins, David Rawlins’ wife, and James Dwayne Burney also applied for the position. The term ends on December 31, 2013. There have been other good athletes who could have made it out of Leonard Floyd’s tiny hometown of Chauncey. They didn’t, he thinks, because they didn’t have people watching out for them. Or they didn’t have that singular focus he has had since that moment he realized he could get out.
