The Eastman Police Department made the following arrest the week of December 17, 2013 through December 23, 2013.
Martes Robinson, age 29, 707 Abbeville Highway Eastman, was charged with obstructing law enforcement officers (one count).
Ambus Pitts, age 32, 111 Bethel Street Apartment A Eastman, firearms discharge near highway/street (one count), aggravated assault (one count) and possession of firearm by convicted felon (one count). [Full Story »]
The honors continued for Dodge County High School Lady Indians Nikki Graham and Margaret Simmons. Graham, a Junior catcher, was named to the first team all-state by the region champion coaches in AAA. She hit .471 and lead the team in homers and runs batted in (RBIs). Simmons, a Freshman shortstop, was named to the second team all-state. She led the Lady Indians with a .505 average. She was also named region player of the year.
The Eastman-Dodge County Chamber of Commerce was pleased to award the City of Chauncey with a Local Tourism Enhancement Grant for the Chauncey School. The grant will be used toward restoration efforts by the city for the school. Leonard Floyd, a 2012 graduate of Dodge County High School, has been named to the South East Conference (SEC) All Freshman Team. He leads the University of Georgia defense with 6.5 sacks. He also has 47 tackles including 8.5 for losses. He has 22 quarterback hurries, a pass break-up, two forced fumbles and a blocked kick. Floyd and the rest of the Dawgs will play in the Gator Bowl against Nebraska on New Year’s Day.
The Eastman Police Department made the following arrest in connection with the gang related shooting on November 27, 2013.
Lemmiele Fullwood, age 33; Charles Fullwood, age 31; and Ronnie White, age 32 were charged with aggravated assault, battery, gang related activity and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The eight year old and under (8U) Middle Georgia Hurricanes softball team were undefeated champs in the Premier Sports “Adopt An Angel” tournament which was held in Cordele on Saturday, December 7, 2013. The Hurricanes fought hard that day playing teams from all over, they never gave up and stuck together through fifteen hours of tough, freezing cold softball. The annual Eastman Lions Club Parade was held in downtown Eastman on Saturday, December 14. Children and adults alike came to see St. Nicholas arrive in Eastman. Float winners for the 2014 Eastman Lions Club Christmas Parade are: third Place: The Club; second Place: the Bus Shop; and first place belongs to the Girl Scouts. Representatives from these organizations will be invited to attend an upcoming Lions Club Meeting to receive their respective plaques. Thanks to all who participated despite the threat of rain. The Dodge County Middle School (DCMS) Wrestling team, also known as the Grappling Warriors, recently traveled to Cumming, to compete in a 10 team dual tournament at West Forsyth High School. At the end of the day, the Warriors had earned a record of five dual match victories and only one defeat against returning state champion Commerce Middle School.
