Renovationn projects underway

The City of Eastman has two major renovation projects underway. The restoration of the south end of east and west Main Street is a continuance of the first streetscape. When this project is completed, both sides of the downtown area of Main Street will be completely restored. The streetscape project is majority funded with a $400,000.00 grant from the Georgia Department of Transportation. The historic preservation of the old Greyhound bus station is also in motion. The City of Chester Christmas parade will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Line up will be held at the Chester Baptist Church starting at 1:00 p.m. If you have an antique car, truck or tractor we encourage you to enter the parade. We also welcome all churches and businesses to enter a float as well.

Grappling Indians begin season with wins against competition

The Dodge County High School (DCHS) Grappling Indians and Dodge County Middle School (DCMS) Grappling Warriors have begun the seventh season of Dodge County Wrestling. The Warriors recently battled on the mat against West Laurens and Toombs County recording impressive victories. Standouts included Christian Grauberger, Jared Cannon and newcomer grappler Boo Davis. Dear editor,
In the state of Georgia there are several thousand citizens living in Georgia’s five state hospitals and two community areas that serve clients with developmental disabilities and behavioral health needs. Many of these clients have lived in these hospitals most of their lives and have little, if any, contact with or support from friends or family. [Full Story »]

Dear editor,
We have met with the board of commissioners concerning the confederate flag on the courthouse ground. This flag does not have the right to be flown on public property, but has all rights to be flown or placed on private property. Former Honorable Governor Sonny Perdue signed this Executive Order on May 8, 2003. The Dodge County Board of Commissioners is jeopardizing the financial assistance we receive from the federal, state and other grants. [Full Story »]
