Dodge hosted two games this week winning over East Laurens 16-1 and over Berrien County 4-1. Tyler Shields got the start for Dodge against East Laurens and struck out 5 of the first 6 batters he faced. Meanwhile the Dodge Offense jumped on the Falcons early. Landin Crummey reached on an error, and Garrett Durden walked. The runners advanced to second and third on a passed ball. Davis Marchant grounded out to second driving in Crummey with the game’s first run. Durden would go on to score on a passed ball. Dodge led 2-0 after one inning.
Dodge broke the game open in the bottom of the second. Griffin Durden got things started with a single. Kade Harpe hit into a fielder’s choice erasing Durden. Brendan O’Connor and Crummey were both hit by pitches to load the bases. Garrett Durden singled driving in Harpe and O’Connor. Marchant was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Jason Lann cleared the bases with a three run double. Dodge led 7-0 after two innings.
East Laurens scored their

Laurens and Berrienlone run in the top of the third when Shields gave up two consecutive one out base hits. He struck out the next batter for the second out. However, a Dodge error would allow the run to score. Dodge led 7-1.
Dodge continued to pile it on in the third. Harpe singled, and O’Connor was hit by a pitch. Harpe scored on a passed ball. Crummey singled to drive in O’Connor. Marchant singled to drive in Crummey. Dodge led 10-1.
Shields struck out three Falcons in the fourth giving him nine strikeouts in four innings. Dodge put this one away in the bottom of the fourth. Cameron Gooch walked. Brady Moore reached on a fielder’s choice erasing Gooch. Griffin Durden was hit by a pitch. Harpe singled to load the bases. O’Connor hit a ball to the shortstop, which was thrown into right field scoring Moore. Seth Cossett singled driving in Griffin Durden. Garrett Durden doubled driving in Harpe and O’Connor. Logan Slaughter walked to load the bases. Noah Cummings walked plating Cossett. Gooch batted for the second time in the inning hitting a chopper to third base. The third baseman fielded and threw home to get Durden at the plate. The catcher then tried to double up Gooch at first, but he threw the ball into right field. Slaughter scored the final run on the error as Dodge run ruled the Falcons.
Statistical leaders for Dodge were as follows:
Garrett Durden was two for three with a walk, a double, two runs, four runs batted in (RBIs) and a stolen base.
Kade Harpe was two for three with three runs.
Landin Crummey was one for two and was hit by a pitch with three runs and two RBIs.
Jason Lann was one for two with a walk, a double and three RBIs. for two and was hit by a pitch

for two and was hit by a pitch with one run and two RBIs.
Griffin Durden was one for two and was hit by a pitch with one run.
Seth Cossett was one for one with one run and one RBI.
Brendan O’Connor was 0 for two and was hit by a pitch twice with 3 runs.
Tyler Shields pitched four innings allowing one unearned run on three hits with nine strikeouts. He walked one batter and hit two batters.
Berrien County traveled to Eastman looking to avenge a loss to the Indians a week earlier. Brendan O’Connor took the mound for Dodge, and he pitched very well. He struck out the first two batters he faced in the first, and he got the third to fly out to center.
Dodge missed an early opportunity in the bottom of the first. O’Connor led off with a walk. Landin Crummey singled advancing O’Connor to second. Garrett Durden attempted a sacrifice bunt but instead popped up to the first baseman in foul territory. Davis Marchant hit a chopper up the middle that was fielded by the second baseman who started a 6-4-3 double play to end the inning scoreless.
Controversy ensued in the second inning after O’Connor gave up a base hit to start the inning. Berrien attempted to sacrifice bunt. O’Connor fielded the bunt and threw to first base. The ball ended up in shallow right field having apparently glanced off the runner with Berrien ending up with runners on second and third with no outs. However, the umpire ruled that the batter ran inside the baseline and interfered with O’Connor’s throw. From my vantage point, it appeared the runner was running right where he should have been. Berrien’s head coach agreed with me and came out for a prolonged yet fairly calm discussion with the umpire. He was ejected three-fourths of the way through the discussion, which in high school baseball meant he was now relegated to the dugout. The call would stand, and the batter was out and the runner sent back to first base. O’Connor followed that up with a strikeout and a fly out to left field.
Dodge again missed an opportunity to score in the bottom of the second when Cole Cranford led off with a single and was replaced by courtesy runner Braylon Mincey. It appeared Dodge had the hit and run on as Hunter Kirkley swung through a high fastball and Mincey was thrown out at second.
O’Connor escaped trouble in the second when the first batter reached on an error and stole second. O’Connor then got a ground ball out and a strikeout. He attempted to pickoff the runner at second who was caught in a rundown and tagged out by Griffin Durden at third base for the third out.
Dodge wasted a Griffin Durden base hit and a Crummey walk in the third inning. The game remained scoreless.
O’Connor would have to work out of trouble again in the fourth as the first batter reached on an error and stole second. O’Connor got a strikeout but then hit a batter. The runners moved to second and third on a passed ball. O’Connor struck out the next two batters to get out of the inning unscathed.
Dodge went in order in the bottom of the fourth, and Crummey came in from right field to pitch the fifth. O’Connor moved to shortstop. Crummey retired the Rebels in order.
Dodge finally got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth. Griffin Durden drew a one out walk. With two outs, the Rebels attempted a pickoff at first base, but the ball sailed into foul territory. Durden started for second and never broke stride as he rounded second and reached third safely. He was then lifted for pinch runner Aron Barden. O’Connor reached on an error, and Barden scored on the play. O’Connor then stole second. Crummey doubled home O’Connor and was replaced by courtesy runner Trase Moore. Garrett Durden had an infield hit, and an errant throw by the shortstop allowed Moore to score giving Dodge a 3-0 lead.
Crummey allowed a lead off double in the top of the sixth, but he struck out the next three batters. Dodge would add an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth. Noah Cummings reached on an error. Tyler Shields bunted for a hit advancing Cummings to second. Griffin Durden grounded out to the right side to advance the runners. The first baseman threw behind Cummings at third. The throw was off target allowing Cummings to trot home giving Dodge a 4-0 lead.
Crummey had to labor to get through the seventh after giving up a walk and a base hit to start the inning. He recorded a strikeout but allowed another base hit to load the bases and bring the tying run to the plate. Crummey induced a ground out to Garrett Durden at second base that allowed one run to score. Crummey struck out the next batter to preserve the 4-1 Dodge victory.
This game was a microcosm of the Indians’ season so far. They have not hit much. They have struggled to do the little things needed to produce runs. The defense has committed too many errors. However, they have taken advantage of the other teams’ mistakes. Most importantly, the pitching has been excellent, and the pitchers have worked out of many jams. You also cannot underestimate the value of senior leadership in close ball games. At the end of the day, Dodge is 4-0 on the young season.
Statistical Leaders for Dodge were as follows:
Landin Crummey was two for two with a walk, a double and one RBI.
Garrett Durden was one for three.
Cole Cranford was one for three.
Griffin Durden was one for two with a walk.
Brendan O’Connor pitched four scoreless innings striking out seven. He gave up one hit and walked none. He hit one batter.
Landin Crummey got the win pitching three innings striking out six. He gave up one earned run on three hits and walked one batter.
Dodge was scheduled to host West Laurens on March 2nd, but rain in the forecast had that one in jeopardy at press time.
The Indians are scheduled to travel to Fitzgerald to face the Purple Hurricanes on March 3rd at 6:00 pm and host the Telfair Trojans on March 4th at 5:30 pm. Come out and support the Indians, or listen on Wolf Country 97.5 FM.

Dear editor,
Just a month now into the Biden- administration, a report card can be issued based on what Biden has said and done during his first month.
Biden’s call for unity never got off the ground due in part to his deceitfulness and mendacities, the second impeachment trial as well as the first on President Trump, was orchestrated by him and his faithful traitor cohorts of the democrat party to distract Biden’s ineptitude, and controversial executive orders. Those two trials cost the tax payers ten of millions of dollars in squandered money that could have been spent on poverty, solving the dysfunctional coronavirus distribution, fighting the drug war and helping the 11,000 people building the Keystone pipeline that had the rug pulled out from under them w/o notice.
Although, empathy from me is a stretch, or, misnomer as these workers are 100% unionized. My experience in business, knows full well that unions support in money and votes invariably and always goes to the democrat party, so for you pipeline workers who are out of work, no crocodile tears from me, you voted for that two face lying socialist, now go to the “Piggly Wiggly” and sack some okra and sun tea for your rent money. There’s light at the end of the tunnel. VOTE TRUMP in 2024.
Now that Biden is the president, you will see thousands of illegal immigrants cross over southern borders, and will be welcomed by this very liberal president; they will get coronavirus shots before you the American citizen, they will take away jobs that our own citizens will lose, they will rape your wives, sisters, and daughters and cause wrecks from driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. Every bit of this information is on file with the FBI statistics on crime.
Finally, our freedom of speech has, and is under attack from the popular “Cancel Culture” philosophy of both individual and group free speech, and of course, eradicating our southern heritage, and replace it with “Black Lives Matter” programs. The most disturbing part of that nonsense is, the sacred mantra of (BLM) is, execute police officers, even our own police knelt down with arms wrapped around these rioters in solidarity. Go-Figure.
This is your 21st Century America.
Will we make it to 2024 for the return of Trump? I don’t think so, hopefully, Christ will return and give this world a bath .

Dear editor,
No matter what we say or do, God’s word will not fail; this is the day God made for each of us, we can use it as we please.
This nation cannot make the wrong choice and get the right result. Scripture says bless the nation whose God is Lord, they shall have no other God before me my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. This nation says we want a savior but will not be obedient to his holy word. Christ says, we must love one another as he has loved us.
How can you say you love me, who you have not seen and you hate man who you have seen, you are a liar. We inherit sin from Adam and Eve but our Lord and Saviour paid the price for our sins when he gave his life on the cross. The things that are happening to this nation are the result of the failure of our young generation.
First school, the home which is no longer an institution of morality. This nation keep crossing the border. As she turns away from God’s holy word, our founding fathers have said, of all the books in our schools, the Holy Bible should be number one.
Political right is not to be traded for the truth. God’s holy word is freedom of speech. We pledge allegiance to the American flag which is a reminder that we are blessed to live in the greatest nation, the two greatest pledges are overlooked or we don’t know them. The pledge to the Christian flag, which is giving glory to the heavenly father not a domination and the pledge to the holy bible that I might not sin against God.
The virus that this nation is faced with is not the first time she has been faced with a problem. Seventy five years ago America was faced with the problem of one man wanting to rule the world, but it was a time when this nation along with others knew sincere prayer.
It was President Roosevelt who prayed a sincere prayer when he prayed by saying God almighty and he paused for seven minutes. No matter what problem this nation may be faced with , Jesus Christ will always be the answer. Christ has blessed this nation for 245 years. Lord Bless.
Johnny Blacke, MSG (R)

That one really moved me
I read through a long list of Internet tributes from Rush Limbaugh fans but this one was my favorite – from Rush’s nephew: “I WILL MISS YOU UNCLE RUSH! Brad Limbaugh February 22, 2021 Stamford, TX., Family”
That one really moved me.
Not a nice thing to say about the Knights of Columbus: “An all-male extremist group” - Kamala Harris, running for the Democrat presidential nomination in 2020. It would be hard to find a better group of people and she trashes them. This tells you a lot about Ms. Harris. She and Joe Basement “the big guy” were both weak candidates and it took a lot of vote fraud to put them in the White House. Bernie Sanders was again robbed of the nomination and at least he would admit he was a socialist. Naturally Bernie wasn’t too disappointed – these losers voted as Bernie would have done.
Michelle Obama says she suffers from depression because of Donald Trump. He’s even responsible for depression in people now.
Listen to the Larry Elder radio show. He will lift your mood.
“Joe Biden stands for Joe Biden and it works.”
Dennis Prager 8-5-20
When “swing vote” Lewis Powell Jr. retired from the Supreme Court in 1987 Judge Robert Bork was nominated to replace him. Liberals pounced quickly. Sam Nunn voted against Judge Bork and there was no way I would ever vote for Nunn after that. Joe Biden and Ted Kennedy, swamp dwellers for life, lied horribly about Judge Bork, his beliefs and his record. The vilification of the judge was horrendous. Judge Bork said he was the lone conservative law professor at Yale Law School. Big media tried to get Judge Bork to withdraw his name but he forced a vote. Good for him.
“Trump has a plan to gut Social Security.”
lying Joe Biden 9-8-20
Remember Barry Goldwater pointing out that Social Security was actuarily unsound? Now most everyone admits it, even leftists. But every election they dust off the old scare tactic about Social Security being dumped by the Republicans. While in the Senate Barry voted to increase the monthly payment regularly – he knew people struggled. Barry was borked before Robert Bork became a big name.

A 20-year-old Cochran man was arrested Monday evening February 22 at his mother’s house in Eastman and has been charged with murder in the Friday shooting death of a teenager in Warner Robins.
The suspect, Gregory Tyshon Davis, was also charged with aggravated assault after Warner Robins police and members of the U.S. Marshals Service Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force tracked Davis down at a house on Neese Street in Eastman.
He was wanted in the shooting of Deandre Pitts, age 19, who was fatally shot about 8:00 p.m. Friday at a house at 1305 Hartley Avenue in Warner Robins.

SPORTS
BY RUSS RAGAN
Okay, here we go with another wild world of sports and yes some of it is wild! We have a sporting event for eight hours due to sun? This weekend was the opener for college football part two. In somewhat normal news, the Braves find potentially good bench help.
I haven’t paid much attention ever in my life and none since the Flames left Atlanta, but Saturday did get my attention. The National Hockey League usually plays a couple of outdoor games during the season. This year’s games were played at Lake Tahoe. Saturday’s game had a 2:00 p.m. local start. The game made it through one period before league officials suspended the game due to too much sun. Yes, the ice was melting! So the game was postponed until 9:00 p.m. local time. That is an all-time first for me.
Now it is time for some February football. Yes, college football part two started this weekend. The featured game you may ask? It’s Jackson State and Edwards Waters without question. Jackson State is now coached by the G.O.A.T. (Greatest Of All Time) Deion Sanders. Yes, prime time is the head man and he lead his team to a 53-0 blowout win. It was obvious that the secondary was really good in the game. It looks like Deion is getting Jackson State ready to play in “Prime Time”.
The Braves bench was a known weakness coming into the season. Sunday things maybe went in the right direction. The team signed former Arizona Diamond Back third baseman Jake Lamb to a one year deal. He hit 30 homers in 2017 and he was an all-star. Injuries were a big problem in 2018 and 2019. He came off the bench for Oakland in 2020. He was pretty good in a limited role with three homes in 45 at bats. It would be great if he could be a strong left handed bat off the bench and play some third base.
He joins another former all-star in Jason Kipnis that hopefully will make the team. Kipnis played last year with the Cubs after spending nine years with Cleveland.
Don’t look now, but the first Spring training game is this Saturday. The regular season opener is April 1, no fooling!

Rush Limbaugh, The Greatest
Rush Limbaugh. The Greatest. R.I.P.
Rush said he was fired eight times but stayed with it and landed on his feet big time. He changed an entire industry, was hated by liberals and everyone who knew him would tell you he was the nicest guy imaginable.
Dr. Ron Paul (R-Texas), now retired, has a great comment on the Trump impeachment hoax. All should hear it – it’s the best I’ve heard on the subject. Call his info line toll-free at 1-888-322-1414. He always kept us informed. I’m glad I voted for him for president in 1988, 2008 primary and 2012 primary. He draws zero Congressional retirement also, same for Howard Coble (R-N.C.), now deceased. Both said they would not take a government pension and kept their word. Both deserved their pensions too.
Gus Malzahn gets fired at Auburn, gets a $21.45 million buyout, takes head football coaching job at Central Florida, big bucks there also, a nice double dip. I quit going to college football games years back. Always get a generous buyout clause; Gus did. He will have a few extra coins in his pocket too, since Florida has no state income tax – better weather too. I’m thinking of heading there also. The Auburn job worked out well for Tommy Tuberville, now in the U.S. Senate.
“John Kerry as climate czar? Only Democrats could pick a guy with 6 houses, 12 cars, 2 yachts and a private jet to tell you that YOU should take the bus to stop pollution.”
Rico on TheoSpark.net
Nikitas3.com says “Adult white men are being called every name in the book and are being marginalized in the media. This is why the left hates President Trump – because he is a successful white man who is also a conservative.”
“GOP is Trump’s Party so get over it, RINOs.”
Nikitas3.com
Of course GOP could often stand for Generally Obtuse Party. Trump and some others are trying to save us from ourselves. I can’t think of a Democrat I’d vote for since Dr. Larry McDonald, a great American and obviously the best Democrat of modern times. He had zippo to do with the national Democrat party of course and was murdered by the Soviet Union in 1983. He had the most conservative voting record of any Congressman of either party at the time.

He had zippo to do with the national Democrat party of course and was murdered by the Soviet Union in 1983. He had the most conservative voting record of any Congressman of either party at the time.

District of Corruption Redskins
The big lie of January 6th is being used by the Democrats to get rid of a man they hate. He had nothing to do with the Capitol riots and encouraged peaceful protests from those who attended. We still do not have a believable explanation of Ashli babbitt’s murder. Can you guess what they are covering up? Don’t forget – many agitators infiltrated the mob, posing as Trump supporters.
I still think of the D.C. team as the Redskins. The Washington name is the offensive part that needed changing. Maybe it could now be called the District of Corruption Redskins.
