Christmas is a wonderful time to be celebrated with family, friends and supper at Grandma’s house. Grandpa will gather the children around the fireplace and read the ‘Christmas Story’ about the birth of Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord.

There are still good Samaritans! On Sunday, December 8, 2013, my sister and I went to Wal-Mart in Eastman to do a little Santa Claus shopping.
But, the story starts before that. My sister had a ring on her finger that was stuck and no one could seem to get off. She had already been to several places, including the emergency room at the hospital with no luck. By this time her finger had begun to swell badly. [Full Story »]

Dodge County offices in the main courthouse closed November 11, 2013 (recognizing Veterans Day), which has been deemed inappropriate under Georgia law.
Dodge County Tax Commissioner Kay Graham and Dodge County Magistrate Judge Lonnie Parkerson went before the Dodge County Board of Commissioners on Monday, November 4, 2013 requesting that they reconsider and give county employees Veterans Day as a paid holiday. [Full Story »]
The Chief of Police in Rhine has asked the Eastman office of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) to investigate an allegation of a theft from the Rhine City Hall recently.
The GBI is currently in the process of having an audit of records completed before they determine what steps to take next in the case. No further information was available at presstime.
Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal appointed a new Superior Court judge to the Oconee Judicial Circuit on Monday, December 9. C. Michael Johnson, an Eastman attorney, was named to the newly created position, which will give the six-county circuit a third Superior Court judgeship. The Oconee circuit includes Bleckley, Dodge, Montgomery, Pulaski, Telfair and Wheeler counties. The circuit has had two judges since the 1970s.
