Dodge County citizens expressed their disapproval to the Dodge County Board of Commissioners at their regular meeting Monday night.
Commission chairman Dan McCranie read the new public participation policy approved by the commissioners at their May 6, 2013 meeting. After reading the new policy and explaining to citizens the new process, he added that it was the same policy that was currently being implemented by the Dodge County Board of Education and the commissioners felt this would let their meetings run smoother.

The Eastman Police Department, along with the State Fire Marshall’s Office and the Dodge County Sheriff’s Department, arrested six people in connection with the criminal activity that occurred in the Griffin Street area in Eastman. The subjects were arrested for the arson of the Boutwell home and the Thomas Realty Company on Griffin Street. Also solved was the robbery of the 17 year old female at the Precision Car Wash along with the burglary and theft of an automobile from James F. Kimmons Certified Public Accountants(CPA) Office.

Thomas Knight, a senior at Dodge County High School (DCHS), recently signed a golf scholarship to attend Brewton Parker College. Knight has had an outstanding high school golf career. He received the golf team’s low medalist award all four years of high school. He was a 2012 all-state golfer and placed third in the 2012 AA state championship tournament. Knight has also been selected to compete in the sixth annual Georgia High School Golf Coaches Association (GHSGCA) Senior All-Star Golf Tournament from June 4 through June 6, 2013 at Sunset Country Club in Moultrie. Knight is the son of Dr. Mike and Dawn Knight and has a brother, Michael and a sister, Annie. It sounds like the plot from a dystopian libertarian novel. The word “patriot” and the phrase “educating on the Constitution and Bill of Rights” triggered heightened scrutiny from the most intrusive agency in the federal government.
We now know that the Internal Revenue Service did indeed target conservative groups, as had long been rumored and oft-denied. The news is a perverse confirmation of the groups’ worldview, and a challenge to President Barack Obama’s. He always harangues us about putting more trust in government, and then you find out that the IRS has been singling out his political enemies.
