Since our taxes are too low here, Vice Plagiarist Joe Biden joined up with those calling for a “Global Minimum Tax.” You can never pay enough in taxes. Three Senators, including one RINO (Republican In Name Only) Lindsey Graham, proposed a “carbon tax” on gasoline in March 2010. Senators Lindsey Graham, Joe Lieberman and John Kerry came up with this idiotic idea, with an initial tax (sure to go up from there) of 20 cents per gallon. Lindsey reached across the aisle to help his liberal Democrat pals. What did gasoline cost under G.W. Bush, $1.78?
Egypt gets $1.3 billion per year from us in foreign aid, or $1.3 X 1,000 X 1,000,000. That’s big bucks. It’s $3,561,644 per day. Egypt openly hates the USA, but not enough to turn down our generosity. RINO Arlen Specter proposed “power sharing” with his Democrat pals. A few years later Snarlin’ Arlen re-switched parties and again became a Democrat in 2009, trying to hang on to his Senate seat. He lost anyway. He died in 2012.
I didn’t realize this - states set their own tax rates on lottery winnings, apparently not in line with normal state tax rates. You’re better off to win in a state with no income tax, of course. Tennessee, Texas and Florida come to mind.
“Liberals depend on stupid.”
I DID realize this.

As much as we want to complain about things, we’ve got it so much better than so many others. A couple of months ago I was selected by Samaritan’s Purse to join a team of volunteers going to Rwanda to hand out Operation Christmas Child (OCC) shoe boxes to the children over there. What a life-changing experience that was for me. Homes without water or electricity; children without shoes, without school supplies, without hygiene items, without toys, without candy and yet, these children were happy. Of course, they were much happier after they received the gift-filled shoeboxes that many, like you, packed!
It’s very humbling when a child gets excited over receiving wooden pencils or a pad of paper. At one of our distribution stops we were told that the children each receive one wooden pencil at the beginning of the school year and they have to make it last because there might not be another one. How many pencils do we throw away? We all need remember that someone else is praying for the things that we take for granted.

Former Dodge County Board of Commissioner Carl Hosford addressed the current board of commissioners about widening the Chester Highway at their meeting on Monday. July 14.
Hosford told the commissioners that the highway was “a disaster waiting to happen”. He explained that when a school bus meets a log truck or 18-wheeler, the buses have to move off on the shoulder of the road to avoid hitting trucks.
Hosford told the commissioners he had been told by interim county manager Bobby Peacock the highway was on the list to be resurfaced using Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (TSPLOST) funds this year.
Hosford requested that commissioners use money from the local Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) for road improvement to widen the Chester Highway 12 inches to 18 inches on both sides. [Full Story »]
I want to thank you for publishing the photograph of Chauncey High School in the June 11, 2014 issue of The Dodge County News. The picture settled a long-running friendly dispute between a friend of mine and I.
I remember the cupola being on top of the building when I was in the third grade in 1938. My friend contended that there had never been a cupola on the building. If I am not mistaken, a strong wind blew this bell tower away in the 1940s. All of us who graduated from Chauncey take great pride in the fact that the building is now 100 years old.
Dwight Eady, age 31, of Milan, was sentenced earlier this month by Senior United States District Court Judge Dudley Bowen to 70 months in prison for his role in a cocaine trafficking organization operating out of Dodge, Telfair, and Laurens Counties, and elsewhere. Eady was the 21st and final defendant to be sentenced for his role in the drug ring. A list of others convicted and sentenced in the case is included below.
Evidence presented during numerous guilty plea and sentencing hearings revealed that Nico Harswell, a co-defendant of Eady, supplied multi-kilogram quantities of cocaine to various individuals in the Telfair, Laurens, and Dodge County area between 2010 and 2012. Several federal wiretaps were obtained which helped identify the members of the drug conspiracy and led to the seizure of a significant amount of cocaine and over $60,000 in cash. Additionally, several vehicles were seized and forfeited.
United States Attorney Edward J. Tarver stated, “This case provides another example of the outstanding results achieved when federal and state law enforcements partner together to investigate and prosecute large-scale drug trafficking organizations. If you push poison in our communities, you can expect to spend years in a federal prison.”

While sparklers and similar non-explosive fireworks devices are legal in Georgia, Georgia Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner Ralph Hudgens is urging citizens to use extreme caution to avoid injuries when using legalized fireworks during the Fourth of July holiday.
Consumers may be confused when they discover certain types of fireworks on sale at local retail outlets near our state’s borders, Hudgens said. Sparklers and fountains are not classified as fireworks and are legal and available in Georgia.

Many outsiders simply become part of the Washington, D.C. establishment elite after they are elected. Many move to the D.C. suburbs and become lifers detached from their home states. RINO liberal Richard Lugar sold his house in Indiana in 1976 as soon as he was elected to the Senate. He finally lost the Republican Primary in 2012 by a 60 percent to 40 percent margin. Maybe the voters finally noticed he had left the area years before. Lugar recently donated $4,000 to liberal Democrat Michelle Nunn’s campaign. Some kind of Republican he became - good riddance.
VDARE.com (great site I check daily) writer Thomas Martel calls conservatives playing ball with liberals on immigration reform “left-libertarianism Open Borders loonyism.” The Libertarian (losertarian) Party supports open borders in its platform and usually gets about one or two percent of the vote.
Sacramento, California is now requiring cab drivers to understand English and the drivers are complaining, naturally, probably not complaining in English, either. Customers are saying that they are unable to communicate with their drivers, says Downtrend.com writer Robert Gehl.
Remember John F. Kennedy’s tax cuts? I never cared for any Kennedy and always thought JFK’s tax cut program (which produced a surge in tax revenue) was the only thing he did that I approved of. Liberal Democrats Harry Truman and Hubert Humphrey attacked the tax cuts, claiming they would wreck the economy. [Full Story »]
