Letter to the editor
Dear editor,
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In conjunction with this, a member of our community, Rose Clark, a cancer survivor herself, will be hosting an event you will not want to miss. The Twelfth Annual Cancer Awareness Program will take place at Faith in Action Baptist Church on October 7, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. Faith in Action Baptist Church is located at 1046 College Street in Eastman.
More than one million people in the United States are diagnosed with cancer each year. Whether you have cancer or are close to someone who does, understanding what to expect can help you cope. Many lives can be saved through early detection.
I would like to personally encourage everyone in the area to take time to stop by the church and learn about early detection, treatment and support efforts for cancer patients and caregivers. There will be a guest speaker, Ms. Darlene Thomas from Lake Marry, Florida.
If you have never attended one of these events, please do come. This is for everyone, whether you are affected with the disease or not. There will be lost of activities including praise dancing, slideshow, educational brochures and a makeover by Mary Kay and Cato’s and dinner will be served.
I applaud Ms. Rose and Faith in Action Baptist Church for continuing their efforts to educate the community about the deadly disease.
Yours in Service,
Jimmy Pruett

Dear editor,
In regards to the pubic outcry over T-shirts in the Dodge County newspaper dated September 19 ,2018 I respectfully would like to share my thoughts on this matter of absolute silliness.
First, what are we talking about here? Apparently, a group of high school teenage girls who just happen to be the cheerleaders for Dodge County High School with well intentions had the lofty idea in a fund raiser to raise money by selling t-shirts emblazoned “In Dodge County, we stand for the flag, kneel for the cross. That’s Indian Pride”. From my read, apparently, the board of education had to stick their nose into it by presumably arguing separation of church and state with a religious connotation on the t-shirt would infringe on other non-Christian students rights and feelings.
This so called public outcry by the good citizens of Dodge County with approximately seventy people attending with one in particular (Mr. John Battle) making a spectacle of himself in his soliloquy drama speaking without invitation and coupled going over the allotted time to speak and had to be stopped! Let me guess, with a racial component.
I can remember during my school years in Eastman, class of 1965, schools, courts, the public square were often overtly Christian in themes of love, gatherings, teachings and ceremonies since the birth of Eastman in the 19th Century. Believe me, the good citizens back in my day wouldn’t have tolerated a coercive school board infringing on kids posting Christian writings as innocuous as a t-shirt to raise money for a fund raiser.
Well, welcome to the 21st Century Eastman and America too in this ever-so present political correctness non-sense. Whereas, the school board is within it’s right to curtail students’ speech if school officials have reason to believe that the speech (“t-shirts”) will cause disruption in what otherwise would be a safe and civil learning environment, or if the speech (“t-shirts”) violates the rights of other students. i.e. atheist, Muslims, or kids predisposed in debauchery of homosexual behavior, which goes against the ethos of Christianity. These cheerleaders sure have my families support and I for one, will send a cashier’s check for their fundraiser.
Please keep in mind, the principles that government must maintain an attitude of neutrality towards religion. If you really want to be honest about it then, that interpretation of the same principle is ambiguous at best. For example, the Supreme Court in it’s infinite wisdom told God to take a hike, you’re not welcome anymore in our schools with your Bible reading and prayers, but by the same token, that same court has accommodated every which way but loose to have Muslims do their abomination in a false gods which is an anathema to this nation that was founded in Christian principles.
That’s my opinion.

The assault on Kavanaugh
Was Brett Kavanaugh the slickest sexual harasser of all time? He was so smooth no human being, including the accuser (a certified leftwing college prof), has any factual memory of it happening, or hearing about it occurring, or even believing the judge would ever do such a thing, and it’s been 36 years for the opposition to concoct a good story. The evidence is so sparse that no prosecutor would attempt to proceed in an indictment. Demo Senators say they believe Ms. Ford, figuring they can get votes from women who still believe the media.
Think Duke lacrosse hoaxers including vengeful aspiring Democrat politician Mike Nifong. Ms. Ford was so convincing that she almost convinced herself that a nonevent was true. The Go Fund Me cash register is ringing up some nice sums from gullible liberals, heading toward the $1 million mark. A book deal couldn’t be far away.
“The assault on Kavanaugh, converting a man known for his integrity into a youthful Jack the Ripper in 10 days, is the playbook for what is planned for Trump.”
Pat Buchanan on VDare.com 9-28-18
The objective is to stop Kavanaugh, and they will spare no shameful ploy to do so, says Gregg Garrett of Fox News.com. Stall tactics will bring on more false accusations: delay, delay. They’re trying to run out the clock, figured we’re all stupid. I was wrong again. I would’ve bet anything Ms. Ford would never testify, but of course when she came forward she was among friends. You’ll notice that Senator Lindsey Graham was the only Republican to stand up for Judge Kavanaugh in the hearings. Good for him. Bringing in the dull questioner from Arizona was another strategic mistake. Yes, Republicans are the Stupid Party, Democrats are the Evil Party. What are Republicans scared of, anyway? Trump was sharp enough to hit back when the media unloaded on him and he won. Brett Kavanaugh stood alone fighting back and he should win in the end, no thanks to the “fair minded” Republican senators.

Delay, delay
Wow, the Demoleft really has an airtight case against Judge Kavanaugh, doesn’t it. When things don’t go your way, delay, delay. Notice “Doctor” Ford won’t take off her sunglasses in photos, obviously wanted to remain anonymous. Big media tries to keep her under cover, not easily recognized on the street, tried to keep her name out of the charges. Notice the fools who willingly buy her story. Six different investigations of Judge Kavanaugh over a 25 year period since 1993 never produced anything like these wild charges. It’s a late hit, says Pat Buchanan.

I wonder what Ben would think of today’s D.C. (District of Corruption) circus.
Republicans were stupid beyond belief when they forfeited two U.S. Senate seats (Indiana and Missouri) to the Democrats in 2012, simply because they didn’t like the Republican nominees. They trashed their own candidates. Now they send out e-mail messages crying for donations to take on the Democrat machine and win the two seats back six years later. Yes, the Stupid Party vs. the Evil Party Demoleft. I’ll take Stupid.
I would never vote for any of the idiot Senators who voted against the Robert Bork nomination in 1987. Judge Bork (1927-2012) got a dirty deal, plenty of lies told about him, another hatchet job by the Democrats and their media pals.
The top three boycotts from Boycott-Liberalism.com: 1. Starbucks 2. NFL 3. CNN/MSNBC.
The site has a list of good and bad celebrities – excellent website. Jaclyn Smith and Cheryl Ladd made the good list.
Bumper sticker of the day: HONK if you’ve never seen a gun fired from a vehicle.
Always remember if you win by one vote, you win.
The only Republican Senator running in a state that Hillary Clinton won in 2016 is Dean Heller in Nevada. You could say their chances of retaking the Senate are very small.
Dennis Prager says leftism is sick and ruins everything it touches – not liberalism, but leftism. Dennis always points out the difference in the two.
