The Dodge County High Lady Indians split sub-region games with Dublin and Bleckley County last week. Dodge defeated Dublin 10-2 at home in five innings and then lost to Bleckley County 3-4 in close game on the road. The Lady Indians are now 3-3 overall and 2-1 in the sub-region.
The Lady Indians got off to a slow start against Dublin trailing 1-0 after 3 innings. Dodge sent 13 batters to the plate and scored nine runs in the fourth inning to pull away with a 10-2 win in five innings.
Leading batters for Dodge were: Ashton Holt was 2-for-3 with two runs scored; Caitlin Greer was 2-for-3 with one run scored; Crystal Ward was 2-for-3 with one run scored; Callie Eckles was 1-for-3; Blakelyn Bundick was 1-for-1 and scored as a pinch runner for Eckles; Adele Harrison was 2-for-4 with one run scored and Jaye Hilliard was 2-for-4 with one run scored.
Dodge lost a heart breaking 3-4 decision to Bleckley County. The Lady Indians trailed the entire game and tied it in the seventh inning on an RBI double by Caitlin Greer. Unfortunately Greer would be stranded in scoring position.
Missed opportunities cost the Lady Indians as 10 runners were left on base, three errors in the field led to two unearned runs.
Leading batters in the game were: Caitlin Greer was 2-for-4 with a double and one RBI; Ashton Holt was 1-for-2 with a double, one RBI and one run scored; Jaye Hilliard was 1-for-4 with one run scored; Brittany Sorrell was 1-for-3 with an RBI; Callie Eckles was 1-for-3 and Adele Harrison was 1-for-4.
The Lady Indians have two games scheduled at home this week as they host Toombs County on Tuesday, September 8 at 5:30 p.m. and Vidalia on Thursday, September 10 at 5:00 p.m. They travel to East Laurens on Tuesday, September 15 at 5:00 p.m. and to West Laurens on Wednesday, September 16 at 6:00 p.m.
