Residents of James Avenue in Eastman were awakened Thursday morning, August 19, by the sound of concussion grenades exploding at a mobile home being operated by an alleged drug trafficking organization.
The Georgia State Patrol SWAT Team was executing a search warrant at the residence, one of approximately six that were being executed simultaneously across the county by federal, state, and local law enforcement in connection to an exhaustive investigation targeting one of the primary sources of the drug problem in Eastman/ Dodge County.
According to Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) Agent Jamie Jones, commander of the Oconee Drug Task Force, the mobile home on James Avenue was known allegedly as “Wal-Mart” to the many drug addicts the organization targeted.
Customers could go to the location and obtain their drug of choice on a 24-hour basis.
Law enforcement authorities were also aware of the unauthorized “Wal-Mart” dispensary and joined forces to shut it down.
The investigation was initiated approximately one year ago and involved the Oconee Drug Task Force, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, and the Eastman Police Department.

Wave the fees because they do not have a job??? Man....that is just stupid. How about if I lose my job I just don't pay my taxes because I can't afford it. Let's see where that gets me, and that is not even money I owe for being a criminal. Why should they be exempted from paying fines and legal fees incurred for criminal acts they chose to carry out?
And why go to the expense and trouble of bringing them to a hearing for additional charges they already know they are due in court for. If they were not already locked up they would have no trouble making their court appearance. But once again, they are CRIMINALS, already proven to be such, in my opinion, they lose their right to make another appearance. They will be informed of the proceedings while they remain in the institution in which they are incarcerated.
And you want to talk about a revolving door...you want to stop that door? Then let them serve their entire sentences instead of letting them out on short time. That way maybe, just maybe they will possibly be rehabilitated instead of thinking... "so what...I get five years...I will spend six months in lock up and be out to do as I please". And if that is not the case, at least it will keep them from committing further crimes because it is hard for them to commit the crimes while locked up.
I am beginning to see a pattern in your posting Cherokee...just another Liberal that thinks that people such as myself should be responsible for the poor underprivileged. My butt I should. I went to the same high school as most of these people that were arrested. They had the same chance to make something of themselves. They opted for the low life criminal path. Let them pay the price for their decision.
