The Dodge County Middle School Lady Warriors are off to a great start to the 2009 season. The girls are currently undefeated with a record of 4 and 0.
The Lady Warriors opened the season at Vidalia where they easily defeated the Lady Chiefs by a score of 7 to 5. Ty Northcutt and Claire Greer led the Lady Warriors offensively. Katie Selph pitched a complete game for the win.
The girls opened the season at home with a big win over East Laurens by a score of 13 to 2. Davina Clark hit a two run homer over the fence to lead the Lady Warriors to victory.
Next up for the Lady Warriors was a tough Swainsboro team. The girls were down early by a score of 2 to 0 when Ty Northcutt hit a two run homer over the fence to tie the game. The girls went on to defeat the Lady Tigers by a score of 5 to 3.
The girls traveled to Cochran Thursday to take on rival Bleckley County. The girls played with heavy hearts as they dedicated the game to the memory of Captain Rickey Parks. As a tribute to him the girls wore the initials CP on their left arm. The girls’ bats came alive in the first inning as they went up by a score of 5 to 0. The girls were lead offensively by Madison Mullis who went 3 for 4 with 4 RBI’s and Caitlyn Smith who was 2 for 2 with 3 RBI’s. Katie Selph pitched a complete game as the girls came away with a 14 to 6 victory.
The Lady Warriors will take on a tough Toombs County team at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Eastman-Dodge County Recreation Department and travel to Dublin to take on the Lady Irish on Thursday.
