The Dodge County High School (DCHS) Indian Baseball Team will be accepting donations at the red light at Oak Street and Fifth Avenue on Saturday, August 14th, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon.
All monies raised will be used to further improve the DCHS baseball complex and to pay for uniforms and needed equipment.
The Indians, along with coaches Tommy Adcock, Jayme Fordham and Justin Hilliard, would like to thank Eastman and Dodge County for the terrific support that the team received during the season.

Typically the football team hauls in about $56,000 a year, and a pretty good chunk of that is reallocated to other sports...so not only do they pay for themselves but they help pay for other sports....
Each home game is considered a fundraiser, plus they have the boosters which bring in a TON of cash - frankly, Football has money because it receives the most community support - but I am glad to see that outside of the recently built stadium seating (which I greatly object to), it is paid for without tax dollars. The problems that cause the baseball/basketball/and academic teams to have to beg for money in various ways could all be solved by better attendance at their respective games and events.
Now, regarding teachers making $80+ not being forced to retire - generally this is not something that can legally be forced...if a teacher has "earned" the classroom position and has the student body necessary to take the course then the pay for that teacher is decided by the state and the only way to be rid of a teacher like that is if there are disciplinary issues that require it - or if a RIF policy enforces it forces it (which would then be easily challenged in court).
Now - I do have some administrators in mind that we could easily do without and save a LOT of money by moving out of our system - one of which costs us over $50,000 yearly for a PART TIME position - and has also costs us extra money by making BAD decisions that led to waste during the stadium renovations.
I'm not trying to be the BOE's defender, I certainly am not and I have voiced my concerns directly with both the Board and the Superintendent...I'm just trying to take in all of the information I can to help them find reasonable solutions so that we aren't in this shape next year...
