The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office reports a significant increase in alcohol abuse related calls and arrests over the last two weeks.
Dodge County deputies have responded to multiple fights and domestic arguments in which one or all of the persons involved were intoxicated.
On July 17, Dodge County deputies responded to a fight at McCranie’s Boat Landing south of Rhine involving several people.
One person, a 31 year old male, refused medical treatment at the scene but showed up later at Dodge County Hospital complaining of head injuries.

If one has been determine to have alcoholism that means having a habit of drinking and got to have a drink. They should seek treatment if there is a treatment center here in the area sometimes the person doesnot realize he has a problem or he is in denial of his problem then this is where your alcohol treatment counselors would come in to give the person the counseling and arrange treatment according to each induvidual need if they complete a program the chances are they will become clean and sober but they must always keep in mind they can never attempt to take a drink because they might relaspe. Once they complete the program they will need to attend AA(Alcohol Anonymous) so they can live an alcohol free life one must understand alcohism is classified as a chronic illness. And this illness can always be triggered. Alcoholism causes one to be unproductive in society as a health care worker I have seen people loose jobs,families and even their lives because alcohol destroys the liver which filters out the blood stream. This is where cirrohsis of the liver comes in,it is also known as hardening of the liver. Alcohol destroy certain vitamins in the body also. With the hot weather that we are having these days it is very dangerous to drink alcohol and go out in the heat, the body becomes dehydrated very quickly. It can be dangerous for one to try to stop drinking without the help of a healthcare professional such as a doctor because of withdrawls and these are usually called DT's which in the medical term is delirous tremors, the person will have shakey hands and sometimes see thing that are not there such as bugs. This is why some people keep drinking to keep from feeling sick but they really should get treament for this illness. As a healthcare professional I hope you have find this information to be helpful because sometime people donot know how to deal with these individuals. I agree Eastman has a problem with alcohlism and I thank the sheriff for addressing the problem it should have been addressed long ago but better late than never and I pray that everyone get the professional help they need with their problems. If you have a family member who is an alcoholic ,you might want to study about this illness because it will help you learn how to deal with them we must all educate our minds about issues that we deal with like this. i'm a alcoholy i have not hade a drink in 26 year's and i seal can't thank about drinking or i will be back wher i was 26 years ago.
