The commissioners of the Eastman Housing Authority and executive director Calvin Yawn are pleased to announce that Michelle Butler is the incoming executive director of the Eastman Housing Authority effective January 1, 2011.
Goodwin & Associates assisted the commissioners in the search for the candidate who possessed the professional credentials, strong interpersonal skills and pertinent experience necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the executive director position.
Butler is a native of Dodge County.
Her parents are Glenda Woodard and the late Carroll Butler.
She has extensive experience in business administration through her service in state and federal government agencies and banking. She is a member of the following Public Housing professional organizations: GAHRA, NAHRO, PHADA and SERC.
She holds her certification as Public Housing Manager (PHM), Certified Occupancy Specialist (COS), Certified Housing Rent Calculation (CRC) and Certified Preventive Maintenance (PM).
Butler is a member of Gresston Baptist Church, and her civic involvement includes: Rotary Club, mentoring at Dodge County Middle School, University of Georgia Cooperative Extension Dodge County Leadership Committee, Diamond Club Booster for Middle Georgia College, Dodge County Touch Down Club and several other community organizations.
She is married to Bodie Gray, director of the Eastman/Dodge Recreation Department. She is the proud mother of Spencer Butler, who attended Middle Georgia College on a baseball scholarship, and who has received a baseball scholarship to Valdosta State University to continue his college career. She has two step-children, Jordy Gray of Eastman and Brooks Gray of Cochran.
Currently Butler is serving as assistant executive director of the Eastman Housing Authority. The Board of Commissioners and the Eastman Housing Authority look forward to maintaining their status as a high performing housing authority under her leadership.
