Qualifying ends for school board

Qualifying has ended for four Dodge County School Board seats. Four district seats are up for election.

Another seat will have a called election. All of the incumbents in Districts 1, 3, 5 and 7 qualified and all will face opposition.

In District 1, incumbent Dougie Martin will face off against Prentice Jay “Roscoe” Bennett, Jr.

In District 3, incumbent Rocky Stuckey will be challenged by Charles Monroe Dennis and Dee J. Yearty.

District 5 will see incumbent Neil Spradely take on Mark Driggers.

And in District 7, incumbent Shirley Ikedionwu will run against Karen R. Butler.

The election for school board members will be on the November 2, 2010 general election ballot.

If a run-off election is necessary to determine the board member for District 3, it will be held on November 30, 2010.

Dodge County Superintendent of Elections John Kelly will call for a special election in District 4 at a later date. The District 4 seat is currently held by Betsy Thomas, who was appointed to the seat formerly held by Michelle Wahl, until a special election could be held to fill Wahl’s unexpired term.

The qualifying times for District 4 will be announced as soon as the election is called.
