That man is Austin Scott. He is a republican candidate for Georgia’s eight congressional district. Austin is a 40 year old graduate of the University of Georgia who was raised in Tifton and now lives in Ashburn. In 1996, at the age of 26, he was first elected to the Georgia House of Representatives by defeating an incumbent democrat in an election no one said he could win. Throughout his fourteen years in the General Assembly, Austin has earned a reputation for uncompromising integrity and real conservative leadership. He was named a “Hero of open Government” by the Atlanta Journal Constitution and Georgia Trend called him “one of Georgia’s brightest stars under age 40”.
In addition to these accolades, representative Scott is a two-time recipient of the American Cancer Society’s outstanding legislative leadership award and the Georgia Association of Emergency Medical Service’s start of life legislative award. He also served as chairman of the Governmental Affairs committee and was a member of the appropriations, rules, and ways and means committees.
Austin has the experience and qualifications to go to Washington and be the voice for the eighth district, which has been silent for the last eight years. Why? He is one of our own, born and raised in Tifton and currently residing in Ashburn. Over the course of his career, Austin has consistently proven that he is willing to stand up against special interest groups and party politics and be a true voice for the people. He will be a congressman that will make a difference in the eighth district; unlike our current congressman, who is just an empty suit that votes for what is most politically expedient.
I ask you to take look at the facts. George W. Bush and John McCain overwhelmingly won the eighth district in 2004 and 2008, but we keep electing a congressman that votes for Nancy Pelosi to be speaker of the house. Scott is one of us; he will be a real advocate for the citizens of the district. He will stand up for free-market healthcare, limited government, financial responsibility, agriculture and second amendment rights. He will work to bring manufacturing and jobs back to America, end illegal immigration and add a balanced budget amendment to the U.S. constitution. If we give Scott the chance to be our next congressman, we will get a man of integrity who will go to Washington and truly stand up for our values and us. He is on our side and I would encourage you to look at his website: http://www.scottforga.com to learn more about a great man and a great candidate.
