Qualifying for five Dodge County School Board seats will begin June 28 at 9:00 a.m. and end July 2 and 12:00 noon.

School board seats are for representatives in Districts 1, 3, 4, 5 and 7.

Incumbent school board members Dougie Martin, Rocky Stuckey, Neil Spradley, Shriley Ikedionwu and Betsy Thomas’ seats are up for election.

Martin represents District 1 and has served on the board for 6 1/2 years. Stuckey represents District 3 and has served on the board for 6 1/2 years.

Spradley represents District 5 and has served on the board for 3 1/2 years.

Ikedionwu represents District 7 and has served on the board for 10 1/2 years.

Thomas has served less than a year. She is completing the unexpired term of Michelle Wahl, who resigned May 19, 2009 due to both personal and professional reasons.

The qualifying fee is $117.00. Qualifying for school board seats is at the probate judge’s office located inside the Dodge County Courthouse.

I think they all should be voted out unless they have documented proof of always voting against School Tax Increases and voting for reducing the board of educations budget.
Property Owners should not be the responsible for their inability to manage our schools system.
Why are property owners the only people responsible for paying school taxes? We are not the only one's that have children in the school system. Some of us don't even have children in school at all.
There should be a fair school tax that everyone pays if they have children in the school system.

Well if what you are saying is true then I agree. I am a retiree and have been cut short of somethings that I thought could get in my retired days but the words I hear are you get too much money to qualify for this and to qualify for that. I went to college to get where I am today and I went at an early age worked hard in the medical field and played less. Now, I am tired of taking care of the rusty dusty behinds who did not get up to the speed where I am today in society. Property taxes seems to be this way in another state I know. When will we stop paying for those who maybe refused to look ahead in life and did not do anything about their lives? Only when we are dead then we will have to pay no more taxes and qualify for a mansion in the sky--FREE.

As we go to vote for the people who control the school budgets, let us remember that these are the same people who did not cut the jobs that cost the taxpayers over $100,000 per year, they did not eliminate the people who could retire and hire lower-paid workers, they opted to continue up-grading the football stands--while they cut TEACHERS and enlarged class-rooms sizes. The teacher cut and the class-room enlargements will have a DIRECT impact on YOUR child's economic future. Let's weigh the candidates carefully, and get rid of the ones so immersed in politics that they ignore the will of the people completely!
