Deputies recover stolen trailers

Dodge County Sheriff’s investigators have recovered three (3) stolen trailers and a stolen all terrain vehicle (ATV) over the past week.

Sheriff’s investigators located a Pace race trailer at a residence in Eastman.

The tag displayed on the Pace trailer was registered to a “home made” trailer, according to the records of the Georgia Department of Revenue, which raised the suspicion of investigators.

Upon further checking of the vehicle identification number (VIN) of the trailer, it was determined that the Pace trailer was stolen out of the state of Arizona.

Investigators also discovered a stolen ATV inside the trailer. The ATV had been reported stolen by the Waycross Police Department. The deputies’ investigation into the Pace trailer led to the discovery and recovery of a stolen log trailer in Dodge County. A second stolen log trailer was located and recovered in Telfair County as a result of the work by Dodge investigators. Both of the log trailers had been reported stolen by the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.

Dodge investigators have charged a father and son in connection with the investigation. Investigators have arrested Nathan Joseph Hamilton (age 22) and Nathan Bernard “Skip” Hamilton (age 63), both of Eastman. Both have been charged in Dodge County at this time with two (2) counts of receiving stolen property. Appling County Sheriff’s investigators have also filed charges in the case. The investigation is still ongoing, according to law enforcement officials.
