The Dodge County eight and under girls softball tournament was held on Saturday, June 5, 2010.
The Dodge County girls opened up the tournament against Cochran.
The game was 5-2 Dodge in the first couple of innings before Dodge opened it up in the fourth and fifth innings to run rule Cochran 17-6. Once again the Dodge team played solid defense and hit the ball well as a team in the victory.
Dodge then faced off against Dublin who beat Hawkinsville 29-9 in their first game of the tournament.
Dodge led after the first inning 6-3 and the teams hitting streak continued as they beat a very good Dublin team 25-14 to put themselves in the championship game of the Dodge Tournament.
The rain and lightening came in about the time the first championship game was about to be played and the teams had about a two-hour delay before the game could start.
Dublin came out hitting the ball well and took an early 6-2 lead after the first inning. Dodge came roaring back in the last inning, but fell short 17-14 and Dublin forced a second game for the championship.
The second game was a close contest and both teams traded runs until the very end. Dodge trailed 8-7 to start the last inning and the team dug deep and scored five runs to take a 12-7 lead going into the bottom of the last inning. Dublin answered and scored three runs before Dodge made the final out to win the championship game of the Dodge Tournament 12-11.
June 1-3 the Dodge County eight and under girls softball All-Star team played in their first tournament in Cochran.
In the first game against Hawkinsville on the first Dodge County started out strong and jumped out to an early 5-2 lead and stayed out front with a 20-9 victory.
Everyone on the team got a hit and the defense played well for a total team effort. In the game against Cochran the team continued to hit well and the defense played even better in route to a 17-2 win.
In the championship game Hawkinsville played Dodge tough and the game was tied 5-5 after three innings, but Dodge went all the way through the order in the fourth and opened up an 11-5 lead and never looked back, taking the championship of the Cochran tournament 14-7.
Team members are Olivia Cranford, Abby Christian Manning, Addison Trawick, Lane Barrows, Laralin Rogers, Aniya Black, Jessie Thomas, Jenna Hickman, Madison Hardy, Kaylee Mullis, Reesa Dotson, Amber Maxwell, and Bailey Harvey. Coaches for the team are Kenton Haley, Betsy Thomas, Ben Thomas, Tavarious Black and Tom Cranford.
