Effective July 1, 2010, the Dodge County Sheriff’s Department, supported by the Dodge County Commissioners Office, will become the new sponsor of the Oconee Drug Task Force (ODTF).
The change came after the Bleckley County Sheriff’s Department, who had sponsored the drug task force for the last 17 years, decided to withdraw their membership and opt out of drug task force coverage, along with the Cochran Police Department, just days before the application deadline.

Now we need more than Andy Griffith and Barney Fife to come to Eastman. But I have confidence in Sheriff Hinson that he is going to do all he can to keep law abiding citizen safe in this county. God has his back and he is a man with great knowledge of law enforcement. Chief Becky Sheffield is a wonderful person who seems to do the right things when it comes to protecting the citizens of Eastman. God speed to both the chief and the sheriff. The new jail is greatly needed so let us all keep our foucus on the right things that is needed to help keep the law abiding citizens safe.
