This area needs to be patrolled more. It is like a race track through Griffin St. going to Walmart or Plaza Dr. I have never seen a patrol car out there.

I agree Griffin St. or Griffin Ave. is like an interstate in the heart of Eastman. I have monitored traffic on this St. for the last 19months and the only time I saw someone get pulled over was when a GSP pulled someone over. If I could collect money for speeding fines I would have thousands of dollars to turn over to the city from speeders. citations. I wonder if the speeders are not being pulled over because some of them are doctors that travel this road but they should take heed to the speed limit also wich is 35MPH according to the signs posted. I sometime wondered if Walmart was giving away freebies the reason people were speeding up that way but I found that not to be true. So what is up that this road is not being monitored for unlawful speeders? The trucks that pasess along this road should have a truck route as some cities do and there is a way to reroute them if a traffic controller would put a plan into action.Just my opinion. The caution light up by the hospital should be changed to a red light, that is a dagerous intersection I try to avoid.

i agree that people do speed through there and a red light is needed instead of the caution light, but the speed limit does go up to 45 once you get right past the housing authority.

Thanks for correcting me about the speed limit. I am educated to know that when I stand to be corrected I do not get offended. God Bless You,Citizen The 35MPH sign is posted in the area where Jack's,Domino Pizza and flash foods just to name a few businesses along there. Now this is a major intersection in the heart of Eastman. But is it a safe intersection or one waiting for an accident to happen.

There was a car accident in the 300 block of Griffin this morning. I donot know all the details but I was told the young lady was on her cellphone and made a left hand turn with no turn signal which might have caused this accident. If one drive while using a cellphone they might as well be a drunk driver so all need to pay attention to the road and respect those who value their lives. Maybe when they start being ticked like a drunk drive they will think twice about jepoardizing others.

There was a medium size sinkhole that opened up Sunday evening in the 200 block of Griffin, it did not appear to be very wide but the depth of it was large. City manager Bea came to the scene right away and also city chief Becky Sheffield was there also. They had the road work crew out to repair the road in no time. Hopefully the geological surverys from the federal government will come out to evaluate so we can get some federal money to help with this repair, the hole was in the center lane of the road. I called Dodge County Newspaper and left a message concerning this but I could only leave on their voice mail in which I did because I thought this was a story that needed to be reported to the public. So if you see cones in the center lane of the 200 block of Griffin this is why they are there. I am sure they are doing all they can to correct this problem from the amount of city workers I saw out there last night.
