Effectively immediately, if you have or plan to buy a specialty tag from the tag office at the Dodge County Tax Commissioner’s Office, the price has gone up.
On May 12, 2010, Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue signed House Bill 1055 that will increase the cost of all first time buyers’ specialty tags and will also increase the annual renewal fee on those who already have specialty tags.
If you currently have any tag other than a regular Georgia tag or certain military tags, you can expect to see an increase on the renewal price for the year 2010.

just wanted everyone to keep in mind that your local county government had NOTHING to do with this price increase, and your county still only keeps $1.00 out of each tag fee for the county-the balance of your tag renewal fee goes straight to the state level.

To make it worse, most of the fee increase goes to the Ga general fund and not to the cause promoted by the specialty tag.

I have a specialty tag and when I renewed and had to pay an increase fee, I was hoping the money would go toward fixing the pot holes in the roads around Eastman. If we have to be increased for our specialty tags then I think the odinary tags should be increased also. This is a form of discrimnation. We are only told that the house passed the bill but I would like to know for what and why. Where is the money going?
