The Dodge County High School (DCHS) Squaws basketball team, led by coaches Paula Selph and Cassandra Hamilton, punched their ticket to the state tournament forthe 24th year in a row, which is the longest streak in the state in either girls or boys basketball, with a 63 to 56 win over Islands High School in Eastman on Thursday, February 11. The win over Islands in the Region 1AAA quarterfinals also advanced the Squaws to face eighth ranked Johnson-Savannah in the region semi-finals on Friday, February 12, at New Hampstead High in Savannah, where the Squaws played tough, but fell to Johnson, 34 to 49. The Squaws then played Tattnall County on Saturday, February 13, and defeated the Lady Battle Creek Warriors, 44 to 26 to take third place in Region 1AAA.
