The Dodge County High School Indians (DCHS) basketball team won all three of their scheduled games this week. The Indians dominated Pierce County, 74 to 18 in a sub-region game on Tuesday, January 26 in Eastman; defeated Southeast Bulloch, 67 to 57 in a region crossover game on Friday, January 29; and defeated Wheeler County, 78 to 59 in a non-region game on the road on Saturday, January 30.
The Indians are now 16 and 5 overall and 7 and 1 in Region 1AAA sub-region A headed into the final week of regular season play. The Indians need to beat Toombs County and Brantley County this week to maintain their number one spot in the sub-region headed in to the region tournament.
If the Indians maintain that number one spot, then they will host the first game of the Region 1AAA tournament at DCHS on Wednesday, February 10. The semi-finals and finals of the region tournament will be held February 12 and February 13 either at Jenkins-Savannah or Johnson-Savannah, depending on the out-come of games to be played this week. The Region 1AAA is set for February 8 through February 13. Check next week’s The Dodge County News for more information concerning the tournament.
Scoring for Dodge against Pierce County was: Demarcus McClinton, 13 points; Alex Jordan 11 points, including three three-pointers; Readell Hunt, 11 points; Daveon Phillips, 10 points, including a three-pointer; AJ Lampkin, eight points including two three-pointers; Brice Blocker, five points, including a three-pointer; RJ Carr, five points; Nick Cummings, four points; Marquios Chancey, two points; Maleek Graham, two points; and Noah Wilcox, two points.
During the Pierce County game, Jordan scored his 1,000 career point.
Scoring for the Indians against Southeast Bulloch was: Jordan, 20 points including four three-pointers; Cummings 19 points, including a three-pointer; McClinton, 16 points; AJ James, four points; Hunt, three points; and Cam Young, a three-pointer.
Scoring for Dodge against Wheeler County was: Hunt, 15 points including a three-pointer; Lampkin, 12 points, including two three-pointer; McClinton, 12 points; Jordan, 11 points including three three-pointers; Cummings, 10 points; Young, eight points including two three-pointers; Daveon Phillips, five points including a three-pointer; Brice Blocker a three-pointer; and Demonte Ivey, two points.
The final week of regular season games is a follows: at Toombs County for a sub-region game on Tuesday, February 2; at Islands High for a region cross-over game on Friday, February 5; and at Brantley County on Saturday, February 6 for a sub-region game.
All games begin at 6:00 p.m.
