Soon after, Cameron Young ran the ball for 16 yards, again followed by a good kick from Bush. The Indians’ score became 14-0 with 7:30 left in the quarter.
Much of the first quarter came and went with no score from either team until a Dodge time-out with nine seconds left allowed Bush to attempt and achieve a field goal for an additional three points. Dodge closed out the first quarter with a score of 17-0.
The second quarter saw the only scoring from Southeast Bulloch, who managed to score seven points from a touchdown and point after touchdown (PAT) with 1:50 left in the quarter. Halftime approached as the score was 17-7.
In the second half, Thompson proved his worth again, scoring twice – once in each quarter.
In the third quarter, Thompson ran the ball for two yards to score a touchdown, followed by a successful kick from Bush for a score of 24-7 with 5:30 left on the clock.
Thompson repeated his action, similarly running the ball for 16 yards with 9:01 left in the quarter. The last scoring action of the game was Bush’s good kick for a final PAT, ending the game with a 31-7 score.
Dodge held many more offensive yards than Southeast Bulloch did, with 430 yards compared to the Yellow Jackets’ 158.
The Indians also had more passing/receiving yards than the Yellow Jackets, whose 16 yards did not compare to Dodge’s 99 yards.
Dodge out rushed Southeast Bulloch as well rushing over a total of 331 yards while Southeast Bulloch merely rushed over 142 yards.
Although Dodge performed better in many areas, Southeast Bulloch did have fewer penalties and lost yards as a result: three and 25, respectively. Meanwhile, Dodge had seven penalties for a loss of 50 yards throughout the game.
The Indians were much more efficient than the Yellow Jackets when they had the ball as Dodge’s time of possession, 24:15, was not much longer than Southeast Bulloch’s time, 23:45.
Star players include Thompson, who completed eight of his 11 attempted passes over 99 yards. Thompson was also Dodge’s top rusher, with 95 yards and eight attempts under his belt.
Kyle Glover is just under Thompson, with 12 attempts and 72 rushed yards. Young follows Glover with six attempts and 60 yards.
A.J. Lampkin was the Indians’ top receiver, with four receptions over a total of 41 yards.
Young’s sole reception was over 20 yards, and Glover’s covered 15 yards.
In terms of defense, Cameron Coleman made seven solo tackles and four assists. Antoine Squire has credit for four solo tackles and four assists, and Larry Johnson made four solo tackles and two assists.
The Indians’ next game is at home against Tattnall County at 7:30 p.m. on September 25.
