So far, six candidates have qualified to run for the Dodge County Commission.

Five candidates are currently seeking District 2 and only one candidate, incumbent Brian Watkins, has qualified for District 3.

In District 2, the following (in alphabetical order) have qualified: Oliver C. “Pee Wee” Mann, Jesse Mincey, Terry Niblett, Danny Howard Warren and Raymond Yawn. (See photos at right. A photo of Mann was not available at presstime). Mann, Mincey and Yawn qualified as Democrats and Niblett and Warren qualified as Republicans. Incumbent Carl Hosford has stated that he will not seek reelection to the post.

Qualifying for the two commission seats closes at 12:00 noon on Friday, April 30. The qualifying fee is $90.00.

In last week’s edition of The Dodge County News it was erroneously reported that five seats on the Dodge County Board of Education would open for qualifying during the week of April 26. Qualifying for school board seats in Districts 1, 3, 4, 5 and 7 will begin June 28 at 9:00 a.m. and end July 2 and 12:00 noon.

Incumbent school board members Dougie Martin, Rocky Stuckey, Neil Spradley, Shirley Ikedionwu and Betsy Thomas’ seats are up for election.
The qualifying fee is $117.00. Qualifying for school board seats is at the probate office located inside the Dodge County Courthouse. We apologize for the error and any inconvenience it may have caused.
