The Dodge County Sheriff’s Department is searching for Taylor Harrison Brooks (age 21) after he allegedly eluded officers after a vehicle chase. He is also wanted in connection with a burglary at 465 Bedsole Road in Eastman.
On Friday, June 5, Dodge County Sheriff’s Department Investigator Roy Conley noticed a pickup truck with a trailer passing vehicles on the double yellow line on a hill twice in Dodge County. Conley attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver sped away and led Conley on a chase that ended up in a wooded area near Cadwell in
Laurens County. There, the suspect jumped out of the vehicle and ran, dropping a gun as he exited the vehicle. More authorities joined in the search but were unsuccessful in locating the suspect.
Both the truck and trailer that were involved in the chase are also believed to be stolen.
During the search, two Dodge County deputies met in their patrol cars on a curve on a dirt road and hit head on. Both the deputies were taken to Dodge County Hospital and later released. Both deputy cars were a total loss.
The suspect will be charged with burglary, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, running a stop sign, reckless endangerment, aggravated assault and possibly more, according to the Dodge County Sheriff’s Department.
If you have any information about the incident or know the whereabouts of Brooks, please call the Dodge County Sheriff’s Department at 478-559-1130 or 478-231-4070. Do not attempt to confront Brooks. He may be armed and is considered dangerous.
